Mushroom wont attach

I have a small Green Fluorescent Mushroom that was given to me free floating and I am having a horrible time getting him to attach to a rock. I have tried the following:

super glue gel: It worked for a few days then he got off.

container with rubble: he flips off the rubble and falls in between cracks upside down.

thread: I sewed him to a rock with nylon thread. He pulled through the thread and floated away.

Mesh: the mesh I had was too widly spaced. He pulled himself through the gaps.

I would just let him float and find his own way, but he always winds up under some rock work upside down or covered with sand in my cave area.

Anyone have some tips or tricks? At this point I am about to give up.

I've learned the best thing to do is put them in a low flow area with some shells or live rock ,give it a few days. OR find you a shot glass , fill it with a small piece of live rock and put the shroon in with it. give it about a week.

Gluing it down is a big no no... I learned the hard way. DEATH!

Rubber bands tend to make them split and sowing it sounds in human to me.

I second the shot glass approach. Sheesh, you really want that sucker down, don't you?

Do you know why it keeps moving? Because even if it does attach to something, it's completely capable of detaching itself if the lighting/water isn't to its liking.

Yes lol, I want him down!

I was hesitant to sew it honestly, but it seams to be a fairly common practice, as is cutting them up like a pie to generate clones. I really do want to attach it somewhere, otherwise it is very likely to die. I figured the distress caused by sewing, whitch it didn't seem to mind, was better than it dying under a rock somewhere. Alas, it took him less than a day to escape that.

I have tried it in several different locations with different flow light etc... If he ever settles in somewhere I am naming him Houdini.

Have you tried a breeder box/net? They're maybe $5, you clip/hang them on the side of the tank, and you can leave the mushroom and his new rock in there to do their thing. ( :naughtydance: ) When it's done, you bring it back out and place it where you want the coral to go. Maybe feed it, to try and convince it that that's a good spot.

Put sand in a shot glass. Put a frag disc on top of the sand. Put mushroom on top of the frag disc. Rubberband "Bridal Veil" (available at fabric stores) to top of shot glass and place in aquarium. Give it approximately one week. Works like a charm.
