Just completed a black out on my tank...now what?

Hi everyone

8 gallon JBJ rimless nano-cube. I just completed a 3 day blackout on my tank due to cyano issues. I removed all the material off the tank this morning and for now, I've turned on the kitchen light. Wondering if I have the correct game plan for light acclimation.

Leave kitchen light on all day and night (it's not strong light getting in the tank).

Turn on lights tomorrow as normal (JBJ Flipper - per the JBJ website regarding this light, "While the total wattage usage is only 6.3 watts, the total output is measured around 19 watts.".

Continue to use that light for a week and then put in place the Par 38 / 24 watt lighting, starting it high above the tank.

What do you guys think?

What is your phosphates and nitrates at?

I don't have a home tester. To be honest, I've never actually done a parameter check on my water. I plan to take some to a buddies house next week to get one done. I've cut out or cut down on what caused the algae problem.

So looking over the tank after the blackout, i lost 1 nerite snail and my skunk cleaner shrimp. The shrimp is no where to be found....guess it died and hermit crab/snails went to work on it. Sucks losing the shrimp since I've had it since the beginning (about 8 months now).

The cyano seems to have subsided a lot and disappeared in most areas. The area that is still affected is the top back part of the live rock. It had the most cyano on it...

Still bad, but some improvement.

I'm planning on doing another water change on Thursday. Do you think it would be ok to take out the live rock and brush off the cyano? Maybe use a really soft toothbrush. I've heard there are negatives about brushing off algae from live rock.....

What I did was suck it up when I change the water make sure you are using a filter sock if you have a sump or change the floss in the filter when you are done.

I try not to take the rock out of the tank because I can't get it back the same.
