aviator300
There is no way we can evaluate how your tank is doing without learning more about it. Some of these things may not seem relevant to you but they are vital to diagnosing the condition of a tank. 1. Are you using live or dry rock? 2. What is your water source for mixing? ex) tap water, RO/DI, distilled. 3. DIY saltwater?? explain and what brand salt mix used and what you mean by additives? 4. How long has the tank been filled. 5. What provides circulation. 6. Where did you get your knowledge base to do this? 7. You have Nitrite and Nitrate levels listed but what is the Ammonia level? All of us would be glad to help you with advice and encouragement but first, we need the answers to all these questions because your original post did not tell us near enough. Welcome to the forum. aviator300
Finally it's there..I've never heard of anyone making their own saltwater before. All i've used and read about are the commercial mixes that we all use..What kind of salt are you using and where did you get your recipe, etc. How do you know it contains just the right amount of Calcium and magnessium. 35ppm salt. Spgr 1.024 to 1.026. Dkh 8 to 12. I mean do you have a chemistry degree or something. I'm not trying to be disrespectful, I've just never heard of making your own salt mix. Also, Ammonia is the one thing that will kill a tank faster than anything so a test kit is a must have item. One more thing. Salinity should be 35 not 1.021 and spgr should be 1.024 to 1.026 Link to comment
Kandaym
I read this topic: http://indoreefclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=1764.msg36097#msg36097 He try to make own salt water but he also add some trace minerals. I think I'm wrong about the Salinity. I mean spgr 1.021.tq for your correction. I will buy the test kit later then. Link to comment
