I know that people turn to cabinet makers for fish tanks but would I just go to someone who makes cabinets for home use? If they can hold a slab of granite I'm sure they can hold a tank.

I used a guy that did custom cabinets as his main business but he would do all kinds of woodworking like stair cases and mantles aswell. You tell em the weight it will need to support and if it needs reinforced they will add the posts but usually a thick high grade ply will do the trick.
