Novastar
Hello all, I purchased this piece because it looked so cool in the shop. Almost grass like effect After a week or so in my tank, these LONGGGGGG tentical things started to appear (which I didn't notice at the shop) So anyway, started searching to see what I have purchased, but the closest I got was a Star Polyp, which I'm pretty sure this isn't. So I was hoping someone here may shed some light on what I actually bought Link to comment
Lilies & Lace
I believe that is Galaxea. Link to comment
GHill762
+1, it is galaxea.. crazy sweepers, I had to get rid of mine because it grew like crazy and had ridiculous sweepers that would reach 1/3 of the way accross the tank (15g at the time).. beautiful coral though IMO.. Link to comment
Liamgray90
Does look really cool with them tentacles has to have a slight gap between other corals cause they can sting each other Link to comment

Novastar
Great, thanks for all your help everyone Yes I agree, it looks really beautiful probably 2-3 hours after lights on, the sweepers get to about 4" long. There's 2 sweepers kind of in the center of the bunch which are a fluorescent bright green color. All the others are kind of milky color. Sorry about the photo I attached, it doesn't really show the true color Link to comment

I never fed mine and it grew like a weed.. also, 4" sweepers means it not fully extended IMO.. they use to get to 6 or 7 inches in my tank, then we put it in my buddy's tank and it never really sends out sweepers.. just keep in mind that it can reach farther if it wants to. some say theirs get to 8 inches or more in the middle of the night.. Novastar
Oh OK .. just looked up info about the Galaxea (http://www.aquariumdomain.com/viewCoralSpecies.php?coral_id=39) and it says it requires feeding 2-3 week ... So I thought I was starving mine. But seems to be doing ok, been in there for about 4-5 weeks now. A quick question, If I place a purple one nearby, will they kind of sting each other? or not, because they're from the same family i guess I've been eyeing this purple one in the shop... really great color on it Link to comment
GHill762
I can't say I know the answer to that.. maybe a little trial and error, break off a piece of each and put them right next to each other and see what happens... it certainly won't starve, but it will benefit from feedings just like any lps will.. keep in mind that if you feed it it'll grow faster..
