Help w/Awkward Toadstool Coral Growth

As you can see in the below pictures, my toadstool is growing more horizontally, toward the front of my glass, MP10, and most importantly, it's starting to cover 40+ heads of bam bam zoas. These are all issues are all inconvenient and I was hoping to get some advice on how to get the toadstool growing more upward...any ideas? Perhaps I can move it up and into position, then fasten a piece of rock at the stalk to wedge/keep in place? Thanks for any assistance!

looks like the power head is pushing it that direction, I'd move the placement of toadstool to where flow is pushing it back the other way. Or leave it there and get a rock to put in between the toadstool and the other rock so when it folds down the leather is hitting that rock so it will keep it from flopping over.

It looks like the power head is actually pulling it towards it in the first pic?

The MP10 may be pulling it...it's only at around 30% power and that toadstool is a beast with a huge stalk. I wouldn't think it'd be able to pull it that strongly, but maybe I'm mistaken. Perhaps if I lower the MP10 towards the sand, it'd reduce the flow away from/beneath the head of the toadstool?

It is moving towards the light. That's how corals grow

My light's above the tank...not in front of it?

I'll also point out that it's only relatively recently that it's begun moving in this direction.

According to your tank thread you have the Maxspect R420R 120w. The LEDs are not directly over the leather, so it's adjusting so that it receives the most light possible.

So has anything changed?

Weird...where do I say I have the Maxspect? My Equipment/Lighting list doesn't. I had the stock IM lights and recently upgraded to the NanoBox Duo. Not sure if that changes the theory?

I did a rescape about a month ago and the toadstool is now closer to the MP10, so I imagine it's being pulled somewhat, but I don't know if that's the entire story (as I said, the MP10 is only at 30% and that toadstool is huge).

Unless anyone has other suggestions, I suppose I'll try wedging a rock in there to straighten it up and/or I may trying moving the MP10 closer to the sand bed to see if that reduces the pump's pull.

OH lol, that was someone else's pic. Either way, unless the stock lights were right over it, they'll typically grow in the direction they can get the most light. You moved it a month ago, how long has it been doing this?

It's difficult to say, but it probably started growing like that 6 months ago. At the time, I thought it was because it was growing up into the IM spin stream. My rescape was partially inspired to help the toadstool not be restricted to grow upward, but since the scape it's only gotten worse.

Honestly, if it's been going on for that long, I'd say it's definitely because of light. Sarcophyton leathers typically have very high photosaturation points and will want as much light as you can give them.

Okay, thanks. I've only had the NanoBox for a couple of weeks, but hopefully that'll help him grow more upward - the NanoBox provides a ton of light towards the rear of the tank (my entire sump area is now lit up, which it wasn't under the stock lights).

Am I dumb to try wedging a rock at the base of its stalk to encourage upward growth? Would moving the MP10 towards the sand have any effect?
