tank is about 9 months old.

hammer getting white from bottom

base of hammer starting to turn white

hammer A Few months later

Base continues to turn white..

My hammers are from a frag about 6 months ago.

At the time, I got a full two heads of frog spawn, and similar sized hammer.

the hammer excelled, the frog died all the way down to nothing and has now rebounded and is growing from different points on the original skeleton. No changes in the tank that I'm aware of.

I noticed that the trunk of the hammer was turning white. I triple checked my specks and all are as stable as stone.. really stable stone. I will post those when I get them again tonight.

Can someone please look at the before and current pic.s and let me know if they have seen this happen? I've not read about this situation with hammers. What I've found is changes in the inflation, coloration / discoloration of the arms and heads but nothing about the trunks slowly turning white. This cant be good and does not seem to be related to anything.

Everything else in the tank is going well. I do 10% water changes twice a week, I change/clean the filter (floss and carbon and sponge) every other day. Three shrimp, a handful of turbos, a few star fish and a tomato clown populate the tank and are quite healthy.

But back to the pictures, any experience out there seen this bottom up change?

many thanks

I might be crazy, but it looks fine. The white you're referring to appears (to me) to be previously fleshy tissue that has now become calcified. IMO, it's a sign of growth!
