Zoos puffing up?

Hey guys,

I have a couple of zoos that have been doing this in my tank recently. Is this normal? My params are great, I change the water once every two weeks, and everything else in my tank seems to be doing ok.

The centers puff up like this, but not all the time.

Thanks!

Interesting topic not well covered. To really get into the subject I'd guess you'd have to get into your tank care a little bit more.I only see two on there so I'm wondering if you just got them.Takeing a closer look at them they look like they are growing well and the lights good so that would lead me to think they are possibly trying to spread.let's take another look at the type of polyp.no top shot but I'm guessing its a zoa with a round mouth and not a slit like a palythoa.

My first guess is that they are umping.up and pushing tissue out to the side which will cause a another polyp to push out to the side.question is why though.

Hmm let's see good lighting and that would maybe leas up to a buildup of zooethelene but I think certain corals have unique traits according to color.with color indicating more or less the type of zokethelene trait they carry.

Then there's the odd chance they are going to spit eggs out but its not that time of year for corals to do that though I am uncertain about that time they do that in the wild.

I think a few other specialist reef keepers may be able to comment.perhaps with the same species.most like spreading but getting more into the exact science of why is I think a mystery of why to most reefers.

Mine have done that after a change of lighting usually lower to higher, it subsides after a string of what looks like fish poop is pushed out the mouth. Color stayed the same polyp went back to normal shape.

True I have seen that before as well.hmmm so that can knock out the spreading issue I guess well have to see a little about more this tank

Thanks for the info, guys. It might be possible that the puffing is from lighting changes, but I have not moved the frag since introducing it into my tank about a week ago.It is a zoa with a round mouth, and I can try to take better shots later when I am not at work. What other info would you guys need from me?
