You seem a bit excited to get diatoms, which tells me you're taking it as the 'cycle's over' sign, but diatoms are just going to be there because there's food and silicates in the water. You'll know the cycle's done when you have no ammonia or nitrite, but plenty of nitrate to show the work that's been done by your nitrifying bacteria. The diatoms might actually use up that nitrate, so careful with keeping the lights on for very long while you're cycling unless there are inhabitants you're trying to keep the water clean for (there shouldn't be unless you've got live rock in there somewhere).
