Marine Depot

Hi Guys so I have a new build! This tank was sent to me from marine depot to do a product review. I recently took down my 40 breeder sps tank... well at least the display and put this AIO in it's place. I have also some great components to this build sent to me from other manufacturers that I think are really going to make a great system. Hope you guys enjoy.... Here are some photos to fast forward to were I am with the build.

Looks great! Can't wait to see the video!

god I love floating tanks. Keep doing what you do, I will be here chillin in awe.

Thanks man Im glad you enjoying the tank build.

So I am starting my cycle with Dr. Tims One & Only Live Nitrifying Bacteria

and Im going to document how it works, because I am a skeptic.... has anyone used it?

8/28 Day one added one and only and ammonium chloride.

I havn't used tim's I did dose bacteria though in the form of microbelift special blend. I had like 5ppm of ammonia and within 2 days of days of the dosing ammonia dropped to 2ppm and I had tons of nitrates. Like everyone always says though it could have just been my cycle started but it seemed too coincidental.

I am however a proponent of the theory good and bad bacteria grows in a reef tank and over time bad can outweigh the good therefor making it a good idea to dose bacteria regularly every few months or so with a hefty water change.

Interesting theory I never studied anything about good and bad bacteria.

8/30/14

It has been 48 hrs since I started the one and only dr tims and I have no nitrite but about .25 part ammonia... so im going to dose ammonium chloride again to get up to 2 part. Then I have to wait another 48rs and test again.

Be patient. It looks like you're using uncured ancient reef rock? Or some sort of dry rock. You're gonna get ton's of nutrients from these rocks, even if you use a bacterial supplement. I recommend you let it run its course and run GFO in the reactor while the rocks cycle.

edit: just read that it's marco rocks. i imagine marco rocks leach phosphates as well?

Phosphate is not the problem its ammonia.
