Reefgeek
I picked up a black snowflake clown last friday and I still have not gotten him to eat. I've tried formula 1 flake and pellet, frozen mysis and even frozen bloodworms. I also tried soaking the foods in garlic oil before feeding. What else can I try to temp him? When I feed the tank he seems to get excited, but he never goes for anything. He was eating at the store, and they fed frozen mysis. Link to comment
Reefgeek
Yes, and all other tank inhabitants are healthy. There's a back story I didn't get into, but the fish was purchased in this condition. On a slightly happier note, I saw the fish take some frozen mysis this weekend. I also picked him up a BTA just in case he was just homesick. Link to comment
MikeTR
If it's not eating then it's probably internal parasites. I would just treat the whole tank with API General cure (praziquantel & metronidazole). It is reef safe. I've used it in my 180g. DO NOT WAIT! Link to comment
Reefgeek
Update, I picked up some General Cure last night and dosed per the directions. It really pissed off my BTA but he opened back up after an hour. As of this morning everything still looks okay, and the clown does look a bit perkier. Will update in a couple days. Link to comment
Reefgeek
Ok, five days later he is actincg like a normal clownfish and eating like a pig. Great advice, thanks! Link to comment
afyounie
Is there an expiration date for the General Cure? If not, I'm going to buy some and hold onto it just in case. Link to comment
Reefgeek
Ergh... sorry I chucked the package a couple days ago. I don't remember seeing one but then I didn't look too closely. Link to comment
Mariaface
Is there an expiration date for the General Cure? If not, I'm going to buy some and hold onto it just in case. It does have an expiration date, but it's still worth it to keep some sort of medication available at all times. It's not going to go bad in a week or anything like that, so I say go for it. afyounie
I'll pick some up the next time I'm at a LFS. Link to comment
MikeTR
I'll pick some up the next time I'm at a LFS. I bought a huge container a year ago. Exp 10/2015. It was cheaper to get in bulk for my size tank. Link to comment
