ayobreezie
Been a few years since I got out.. went from planted to reef to planted.. to nothing.. then dug through the garage and got the itch again... Tank: ADA 60P (drilled custom herbie overflow) Stand: IKEA Besta Filtration: 10 gallon custom ugly sump w/ live rock, Cadlights PLS-50 skimmer, Rio 1400 return pump Lighting: Old FishNeedIt 150W MH w/ Radium 20k bulb Pump: Currently some Oddysea pump I use to mix water with while I'm waiting on a Jebao RW-8 Plans: Unknown Used 75% reef water from LFS and 10 lbs of rock rubble to kick start the cycle. Dumped in water on Friday, noticed leaking bulkheads, applied silicone.. then other drain started leaking.. applied more silicon.. now, it's finally leak free and cycling.. As I was planning this tank, hadn't even gotten water in it, one of the LFS had a ELOS Filtra 120 Freshwater version.. picked that up, so I've been focused on how to set that one up. Unsure if I'm drilling yet.. Building the stand some time this week. Might turn this one into a BTA or LPS and clownfish tank, with a Tailspot Blenny. ayobreezie
Pretty much dead silent. The bottom is 3/4" with a strainer at full siphon. The top is a 1 inch pipe and open with a trickle. Both pipes go into the water 1 inch inside the sump. I don't think I have to trickle the emergency drain, but I just went by whatever I read from herbie tutorial. I would've bottom drilled, but I didn't know how cheap the Besta stand was until I got it.. top piece is pretty hollow. Link to comment
JR!
that what i wanna do with my next tank so bad. how are the bubbles in the sump from the air coming down the trickle side? Link to comment
ayobreezie
No bubbles at all.. you just have to dial in your siphon just right on the main drain. And just don't make an air hole on the emergency drain.. so if the main gets clogged, the emergency will make a bunch of noise from the air, kind of like an alarm that something's wrong. Yeah, it's less drilling than the coast to coast, and fits in the corner.. I made my box bigger than I should so I can pull the pipes out if need be.. glad I did since the bulkheads started leaking on the fill up. Link to comment

ayobreezie
Current FTS, setting up ELOS 120 at the same time.. probably gonna stop for a bit and wait.. still debating whether or not to plumb the 2 together.. 60P FTS Link to comment
ayobreezie
Latest FTS, added CUC, a blenny and a few LPS/softies. Also using a Jebao RW-8 temporarily until I pick up my RW-4 this weekend. Also, got in some goodies in this week.. Elos is almost ready to get wet.. Link to comment
Rehype
Looking good so far Cant wait to see what you do with the elos Link to comment
ayobreezie
9/17 updated FTS Did a water change.. looks like tank is stablizing nicely.. haven't had to clean the glass other than wipe off water spots. Corals are growing.. fish are happy. Elos is almost ready to get wet.. did a sleek PVC overflow with an overflow box, but it's just too damn loud.. so I ordered a Eshopps PF-1000 overflow box.. hopefully I can do a herbie on that and it should be silent.. Also started curing dry rock I got from a trade.. and I decided to start the tank with a biopellet reactor in place.. so I ordered a TLF Phosban 150 reactor. Can't wait to actually get it up and running.. hopefully there's no more hiccups. Will start a thread when I get the tank in place and soaked. Link to comment
