Kirk_M
I recently upgraded a Fluval Spec V to an M40 when a used system became available at a very good price locally. Equipment: Light -- Current Marine Orbit LED -- likely to be upgraded to an Radion XR15W Pro Controller -- Reefkeeper Lite Auto Top Off -- Tunze Osmolator with a 3 gallon jug for reservoir Heater -- Cobalt NeoTherm 50W Skimmer -- Fluval Sea, stock skimmer with setup - might upgrade to Tunze 9004 Filtration -- Innovative Marine MiniMax reactor running Rox 0.9 carbon Return pump - upgraded to Mini Jet 606 with Innovative Marine Spinstream Powerhead 1: Jebao RW-4 Powerhead 2: Korallia Nano About 10 lbs or so of live rock from both the Spec V and some dry rock I had lying around from a previous setup, Fiji pink sand. Some dragon's breath (or tongue, whatever it is) macro, a juvenile red and black damsel, bumblebee snails, 5 micro hermit crabs, 5 astrea snail, a crimson serpent starfish, various corals. https://flic.kr/p/otBW17'>https://flic.kr/p/otBW17'>IMG_6314 by https://www.flickr.com/people/42208216@N07/'>kirkmdds, on Flickr https://flic.kr/p/oL63iE'>https://flic.kr/p/oL63iE'>IMG_6310 by https://www.flickr.com/people/42208216@N07/'>kirkmdds, on Flickr https://flic.kr/p/oL645u'>https://flic.kr/p/oL645u'>IMG_6307 by https://www.flickr.com/people/42208216@N07/'>kirkmdds, on Flickr https://flic.kr/p/oL64Lu'>https://flic.kr/p/oL64Lu'>IMG_6306 by https://www.flickr.com/people/42208216@N07/'>kirkmdds, on Flickr Link to comment

Kirk_M
Thank you! I had almost all that equipment running on the Fluval V, already, with the exception of the WP-4, which was just too powerful to use. Link to comment
wildbill79
Very nice setup! Following along. Link to comment
Kirk_M
I had an AI Vega light lying around that I mounted to the wall yesterday, replacing the Current light. I couldn't justify spending over $400 on a Radion PLUS another $100 on the mounting bracket system they just came out with, seeing I already had a suitable light available. Just have to get the wiring cleaned up a bit and I'll post a pic once the lights come on. Link to comment
Sk8n Reefer
nice clean set up- like the rock formation! Link to comment
Kirk_M
Moved a few things around, and added a few items from other tanks: https://www.flickr.com/photos/42208216@N07/14826156628/'> https://www.flickr.com/photos/42208216@N07/14826156628/'>IMG_6327 by https://www.flickr.com/people/42208216@N07/'>kirkmdds, on Flickr Link to comment

Kirk_M
I added a Tunze 9004 skimmer to the tank. It was very tight fit in the first chamber of the AIO compartment, and had to be turned sideways to fit. So far, it is heads and shoulders above the stock Fluval skimmer. It started skimming immediately, no break in needed. Link to comment

TimberC
Nice set up! Did you do any changes to the back chambers? Link to comment
Kirk_M
Nice set up! Did you do any changes to the back chambers? No. I didn't realize that it didn't have an over/under pattern like a sumped tank until I had already filled it. Else, I would have. Link to comment
Trevor W
So when you say you had to turn the tunze 9004 sideways I am guessing that you have it so the magnets attach to the glass pane on the left side and not the baffle. Does the skimmer cup restrict the flow from the overflow slots at all? Great looking tank btw. Link to comment
TimberC
Did you end up switching the fixture that came with the tank for the Radion XR15w Pro? Link to comment
iadubber
excellent tank! Is that stand custom? I like it a lot. Link to comment
reefernanoman
Nice cube. Following. thank you! I had almost all that equipment running on the Fluval V, already, with the exception of the WP-4, which was just too powerful to use. Did you mean rw4? I don't think there's a wp4 Link to comment
Markburns43
Looks sweet man. glad to see a nice setup up from an m series, and ya to bad you didn't get to flop the rear sump to over under. I wonder what there reasoning wasbesides leaving little triangles in the bottom of each sump chamber, maybe the pump wasn't strong enough. Link to comment
