Huge Diatom Bloom?

Tank has been up for 6 weeks. Have 4 Nassarius snails. 12 Hermit Crabs and 1 Emerald Crab. ReefBreeders Light

No wonder your zoas aren't opening they are covered with diatoms. You add corals after your algae outbreaks have settled.

even tho the frag is still completely white? The zoas look clean but i could be wrong.

The best I could see from that zoa pic ot looked like a film algae on it. The middle polyps were closed with red on the stalks. A white light pic would really help.

no theres no red on it at all

That arch on the right is terrifying. God I hope that is stable because it looks hella precarious

haha no its very stable I made sure trust me. didnt want nothing falling and breaking my glass while I am at work :P

What is your CUC? There looks to be some funk on the polyps that needs blasted off with a turkey baster.

trust me I did that. Even Freshwater dipped them when I first got home and they were open fine after that. turned my lights off that night and they never opened back up :(. I love their color I want them to come out! 12 hermit crabs 4 nassarius snail and emerald crab. as of right now.

You might want to consider an army of cerith snails to take care of the diatoms. It looks like your clean up crew will mostly eat left overs, but not really algae.

 

How long has your Zoa been in there? All of mines opened up within an hour after placing them into the tank.

The first day the zoa was out and looked beautiful then at night I turned the lights off woke up and it never opened back up. Now I have another zoa thats doing just fine but that one is not.20140817_202433.jpg
