CurtBoswell
The pair of clownfish I want have been at my lfs for the past 2-3 weeks. I won't be getting them for another 4 weeks at least. I've been looking at them for signs of disease recently. Their fins don't have any sign of damage. Their eyes aren't clouded or sunken in. They are swimming around a lot. They aren't hiding. The one thing I saw on one of them is a circle that is very tiny. It is a slightly different shade of white and it seems to be darker in the middle. What could this be? Should I be worried about it? Also the store claims to keep a small amount off copper in their tanks? So what are your thoughts on quarantining them? Link to comment
seabass
If you want to be sure, then QT them. However, if you don't have other fish yet, you might be able get by without (but it might become necessary to remove them, in order to treat with a non-reef safe treatment). Keep an eye on them before you pick them up. Not sure about the markings. Could they just be natural color variations? Maybe a pic would help. Link to comment
GlassHouse
Yes. You need to quarantine them. Link to comment
CurtBoswell
What do you all suggest I do for dips and treating even if I don't see anything? Link to comment
seabass
So I read in another thread that these will be the first fish in your tank. Therefore you won't be risking the lives of other fish already in your display (one of the main reasons to quarantine). Still obviously, you don't want to put a sick fish in your display tank. I would continue to observe it in the store. While not isolated, they are in a form of quarantine from your tank. You might take a picture of the area of concern, so that you might get some more opinions. If you feel that there is nothing wrong, I probably wouldn't dip it. Although some public aquariums dip all of their new arrivals. Link to comment
CurtBoswell
I'll definitely try to get a picture of that spot on here as soon as I can! Link to comment
