frankdr
I finally found a great deal on a macro lens.. It's a Tamron SP AF Di 90mm f/2.8 1:1 Macro. I have it on an older CanonRebel XTi. After a long hunt on eBay, I got it for about $250 - about half the price of a new one. I've figured out that this lens is a lot better than my picture taking skills..lol. I'm going to need a decent tripod for my aquarium photos - although I did get a few - more by luck than anything else Link to comment

frankdr
My LFS had a 50% off sale this weekend, so I bought a Corky Finger Gorgonian. I tossed the Kenya Tree in the Frag tank.. All it did was drop branches all over the tank anyways and replaced it with this. I also picked up two more Emerald Crabs - 3 may be a bit much for a 30 gallon - but the bubble algae is getting pretty heavy. They will have plenty of work to do.. I took the picture after I put it in, so the polyps are still retracted, but they were opening up pretty good the next morning. I also picked up a snowflake clown that was going to go in the Nuvo 8 - but after the turmoil evicting the previous tenant, I decided to put him in here. My other clown has been lonely since its mate jumped a few months ago. The new one is in the bottom of the pic. I should be able to get a better picture once he settles in. The clowns love the powerhead. Link to comment
frankdr
The snowflake has been much more active, so I got some decent pics . Link to comment
frankdr
My Gorgonian is doing well. Good PE all day. Polyps top to bottom - open all the way and it gets a zoo/phyto 'bath' about once a week Closer view Link to comment

frankdr
Here's the best FTS I can get for now. I had to take a high angle shot to avoid reflections off the glass You're getting some cool growth pattern out of that monticap . Yes, it's 'falling' down the rocks and plating along the way. Who knows what it will end up looking like. Here are some shots from various angles, with the "guard cardinals" patrolling the area .. .. Link to comment

frankdr
GORGEOUS! Those cardinals are pretty awesome! Do they all get along? Yes, I have 5 of them in there. My LFS recommended odd numbers of 3 or more. I think the larger numbers diffuse any aggression. There is an occasional chasing, but no nipped fins or such. They don't bother the two clowns either. frankdr
Tanks looking great ! That idaho grape is doing really well! Thanks - yes it's growing really well. I especially notice when I'm gone for a week - I can see the difference. I did notice that I had some food or such that left a white discoloration. I'll have to make sure I keep the flow up - or at least squirt it with some water if I see that happening. I also had to trim back some GSP that was touching the edge and keeping it from growing in one place. If I do more SPS, I may have to peal off all the GSP up there at the top. Link to comment
