Oh thank goodness! Really slow night tonight. Just what I need to pass the time. Glad to see you're doing so well. Neglect the tank recently? I'm not gonna demand pics; just request adamantly. :D

Dang, wish I'd known that was coming before I bought it a couple months ago. But that's OK, it was worth paying full price :)

just been super busy. was in minneapolis, then home one day,

then up in LA for thanksgiving. whew. so tired.

tank is doing great. i can never take a FTS though, it seems.

too much reflection in the kitchen due to lighting. :/

Tank is still looking great!

When trying to shoot your tank, shoot the ISO on your camera much lower if you can or use a matte black sheet to absorb some of the light.

HAPPY 2016 friends!!!

december was loopy, then we spent the latter

half visiting in laws in the uk. thankfully, we had really

mild weather--bless.

i had an auto feeder for the three comet goldies

("won" at the state fair, and my gateway into this hobby)

but left the 8g to its own devices. :o i was lucky enough to

get wilma babysat at a pet motel (LCS).

anyway, came home, the tank stank of brown algae on

glass, but nothing died. one of my sexy shrimps passed

late last year, just disappeared. :( but i still have the other, and

it must be going on 1.5 years now at least.

i went to pick up wilma and she was NOT in her little cubby

tank. the guy felt really bad. he even looked at the bigger tank

(containing giant lettuce mushrooms things) and nada. i just

chalked it up to bad luck, but felt bad too.

i wandered the store a bit, then decided to go look again

at the large tank below (there is an opening on top--and there

was wilma looking back at me! she had jumped, and miraculously

landed in the larger tank below!!!

!!!!

WILMA JUMPED AND SURVIVED!

so here is a new year's shot. :)

Welcome back to both you and Wilma the Miracle Fish! That's amazing :)

it really was. the LCS guy said i should rename her LUCKY.

ha!

she must have been hiding. the tank below (tiered so it's sticking out)

was at least an 80g.

TGIF friends!!

i just picked up my NEWEST RFA from ASD.

i am still hurting for green in my tank, and you can't

really get more toxic green than this. :D

this is my 6th RFA!

here it is right after i plopped it onto the rock. thankfully it attached.

it is a good rock for my flower nems. and it's by another green RFA

i bought recently. ha!

toxicrfa1.jpg

here it is today at dusk!

toxicrfa2.jpg

now to the BAD news.

a lesson in not being a lazy tank keeper and TRUSTING your

gut instincts. my beautiful utlra nem, the orange skirted one i have

had the longest (and in my sig foto) had started moving along the

front edge of the glass. it had gotten close to my little lobo, and i thought,

i should move the lobo.

well, i didn't. and today, i see that the ultra flower nem had

lost half its face and was spitting out its flesh from angry lobo

contact. :(

i'm so mad at myself over this.

Happy New Year, Cindy!!!! I'm so glad Wilma is still with you . How were they able to get her out of an 80g tank???? That is awesome!

i was SO happy she was okay! and the tank only had a bunch

of giant cabbage mushrooms on the bottom. no fish. so the person

who babysat wilma spotted her and was able to net her quite easily.

ha! happy new year to you too, GENA!!

Wow- that's an awesome story about Wilma

seriously. lucky fishie!

Lucky Wilma! That is such a cool account and I am happy for you both. Happy 2016 to you as well.

thank you! and happy 2016 to you too!

it's gonna be a busy one for me.

That toxic green is incredible .

For some reason I'd think an RFA would win a battle like that but I guess lobos pack a punch! Sorry :(.

Sorry to hear about the anemone :(

I lost one of mine when it went into an Acan. I tried to save it in a breeder box but it disintegrated, bummer.

Yay for the new RFA! It's beautiful - that green color really pops out :)

I'm sorry about the other one. I know exactly what you mean about being sorry you didn't trust your instincts. I've had the same thing happen more than once where I knew I should move a coral and didn't move quick enough. It doesn't take long for disaster to hit when the tank is so small

ironically, when i had seen floaty flesh and two

corals meeting, i had ASSUMED that the RFA had

damaged my baby lobo. and i moved the lobo out of

the way, angry at my flower nem.

well, later, upon inspection, it was the RFA hurting. :(

flowermama said in the RFA thread the thought is always

that nems are the dangerous ones, but it isn't always the

case with flower nems. so sad.

thanks john. i guess i haven't had a good lesson

learned in a while. imagine what could have happened

my 12 days away without supervision? :o

yikes. i got lucky.

liked for your commenting. not for your actual comment. ha!

so sad. i'm not sure if i can save it either. i'm just leaving it alone for now.

hello friends!

i had a really productive weekend. on deadline for

my sequel revisions, worked on that, and also hit the

gym today for a much needed work out!!

i got a great photo of my brittle starfish. i have at least 6

big ones in my tank. i love them! i think i had fished this one

out of the back chamber a few weeks ago while cleaning. it

was huge with three long legs, and today, i saw it had grown

two stumpy legs back. haha! love it!!

wilma photobombing. :D

That's a bummer :(. I wonder what the issue is? Maybe they are more sensitive to lighting.

Tank looks great. I can't believe you still have room for new stuff. Mines maxed out.

cause my stuff keep dying, sancho. LOLOL

:(

well, not recently. but the alveopora or whatever is not

looking too hot.

i did just lose the peony mushroom too, alas, after the long trip away.

like GENA had said, they could be a challenge.

all the shrooms, yumas, RFA, and the giant cynaria

are doing well. :)

i know. :( i wonder if they expect good water quality

or something? ha!

I doubt it. Don't mushies like the dirty water??? :D

I'm leaning toward lighting. Maybe it's too bright?
