Drexellake
Great thread and tank. I really enjoyed reading it and the pics. Starting up and 8g myself real soon. Link to comment
Pancetta
*facepalm* too hot and not enough iced coffee yet. of course, your plates and clams would be in the larger tank. thank you! i'm considering gobies, they are so cute, but not super active. or possibly stubby clowns. maybe blennies. will have to have a gander next i'm at Aquatic Warehouse. they have a wide fish selection for us SDians. that orange nem was expensive. ha! sticker shock! and i am very pleased with the dragon soul favia freebie. but just googled tentacle images. no joke. thank you, gena!! eta: i think your gobies are happy there's another in the tank too. Cindy, Thanks for the reference to Aqua San Diego. My firm has a San Diego office and I work on a lot of projects in SoCal. Will have to try to make a trip there next time I am in SD. Not sure if you have checked out all of Gena's tank threads but, (Darth Vader's voice) "The coral force runs strong in Gena's family". Her 45 gallon cube inspired me to start my tank and my 50g CADLights build. Probably has something to do with her Polish heritage. Consumption of Perogies and or Vodka etc. David Link to comment

owenj
Beautiful tank CIndy! Love your RFAs and that Dragon Soul favia freebie too. I've read that favias tend to like lower light, lower flow, and beware the sweeper tentacles . If you have the floor space for a plate, go for it! I love mine. Link to comment

I've read that favias tend to like lower light, lower flow, and beware the sweeper tentacles . If you have the floor space for a plate, go for it! I love mine. thank you owen! i wish i had the tank space for a plate. but as you see, not so much right now. ha! i fed the rock anemones yesterday and they both ate well, and even my ric took some. and although i haven't seen my favia's sweepers yet, i dropped a pellet on him (outer edge) and sure enough, he ate it in about five minutes. it was like watching the pellet sink into a deep seat cushion. =D the tank contains my damanged and bleached corals due to babysitting disaster in august. my GSP are shortened and bleached at the top. behind the ric are some zoas that suffered too, but also had been attacked by hair algae. i did two peroxide dips and i'm not sure how they'll do. two of the bigger ones have been peeking out, looking all pallid. even my split xenias have been sort of weak! but they seem to be getting better. you know xenia. i've put the favia toward the back with less light and flow. i hope it's happy. the large mushrooms in the middle are bleachd too. poor things. i fed it last night and one actually closed for the first time since being traumatized. they are translucent. not sure how the little confusion mushroom on the right is doing. i haven't seen it open fully since the first day of getting him. got a little frag of gsp because my pale ones were making me sad. ha! I'm sure with extra love and care, your corals will heal just fine! thank you! i asked and looked online, and the ASD owner said it might take 9-12 months for the corals to heal. and they might never heal. apparently, once they are bleached, it's not so good for them. how's your tank been?? Still keeping my eyes out for a RFA to add... i know ASD has some in stock. but you'd have to pay for the shipping. and i think you said you were leery of the shipping too? they do seem to crop up less, that's for certain. i feel fortunate i had a local place that had them. good luck, hope you find your flower nems soon! Still keeping my eyes out for a RFA to add... InsaneCorals (https://www.facebook.com/DBFrags) by Lombard got a new batch of RFA this week. Go check them out. They have LOTS of corals. They may be going to frag swap this Saturday but Rich (one of the owners) is usually home on Sundays. It's just two local reefers that operate out of Rich's house. Price is good. They have rics for $8 or 3 for $20. They have some cool frogspawns / hammers that went on sale last week too. Not sure if any are left, but they get new stuff weekly. thank you! i asked and looked online, and the ASD owner said it might take 9-12 months for the corals to heal. and they might never heal. apparently, once they are bleached, it's not so good for them. how's your tank been?? It depends on the coral. I know my rics were totally bleached when I got them (stress from shipping), but they recovered in a few months. Just try not to move the bleached coral. If it's mushroom, put in low light and let it heal. Link to comment
