nano-cali
Ok so heres my issue i ordered a Nuvo Fusion 20 and a AI Vega without thinking about how am going to mount the light. I cant use the ext tank mount because i cant drill the stand its going to be on, i cant use hang kit because i cant drill the roof or the wall. I cant make holes anywere, so basically i need to mount it directly on the tank and my diy skills suck too. What do you guys recommend anything like this been done before some thing like the mount for the nano or a gooseneck or diy but directly on the tank. Ai says in order to get the best par from this light on this tank it needs to be 12" above the water line seems a little high but who knows, so any help...? Link to comment
dormreefer
Isn't this in 24 inches perfect? http://www.marinedepot.com/AquaIllumination_Rail_Kit_for_Sol_Vega_LED_Fixtures_Hanging_Kits_for_Aquarium_Light_Fixtures-AI_(AquaIllumination)-3Z42967-FILTACMOFTHK-vi.html Out of curiosity why a Vega over some of the other options such as Radion xr15 or Nano Box? farkwar
Get some 1/2" cell cast acrylic, black, white, or clear,. Wide as your AI Vega, about 3 feet long. Get a heatgun. Propane torch if you want to polish the acrylic edge. Heat the acrylic until it starts to bend. Put a wide 90 degree bend to it, maybe 95 to account for any bending from weight of led. Silicone the long end to the back of the tank. When that drys, screw the AI to it centered over the tank. Run the cable down the back of acrylic mount with tie strap mounts and tie straps. farkwar
You can do the same thing with aluminum, too. Link to comment
Jackstone
I had the same issue and ended up contacting Chris at CNC Reef (forum sponsor). They are building a kit to install AI "guts" in their enclosure. They have several enclosures with gooseneck mounting options. I haven't gotten the light back yet so I can't vouch for the final product though. Link to comment
