At that point, it was moist and slimy as it should be I think. The other day i noticed its edges were not slightly waving in current any more so i reached in and touched it lightly. It now feels rough and hard. Do you think it's a Goner or what? Ammonia and Nitrites 0 Nitrates 2.5 PO4 0 Calcium 460 Mag 1410 temp 78.8 F Light Mod Flow Mod to high PH 7.7 Spgr 1.025 Link to comment
CatfishSoupFTW Posted August 5, 2014 Share Posted August 5, 2014 the slime you feel is when the corals are stressed no? every time I have boughten frags, or touch them and annoy them, they release a film and get all cheesed. After that, they shouldnt be like that when they are happy. which in your case occured. It doesnt seem dead looking to me. monti frags always look weird cut up, but it looks good to meh. I have about 6 Zoas and LPS doing fine. The LFS offered me this SPS frag for 5$ and I said "why not".... BTW, the tank is not this white. To get a good shot I put a bright white spotlight on it so the coral good be seen well. Also i could not get Elmer out of the way for a good shot. Link to comment

One thing SPS corals need is water stability as far as water parameters are concerned. They are not as forgiving as other types of corals are. One thing gets out of whack and you'll know it. Consistantly 11 using Distilled water and RSCP salt. No other additives. Link to comment

I noticed in your pic, I don't see any PE. But as amarkalot has stated, keep water params stable. BTW, I think your monti looks fine..... Link to comment

Its still alive.It's fine. In my limited experience it's nearly impossible to kill Montis. Just keep things stable and it will make grow. Hard to kill these accidently.Ill send you a couple frags free, sans shipping, if its really dead, if you like. Ps, youre breaking down your system per the other forum thread. Regular montipora will overgrow a pico relatively quickly. Run into other corals and start sliming.I would get a little confusa and purple haze instead of common montipora.
