ChesterRxs
Hello, I am new to the forum and also fairly new to the hobby. The lights that I am using atm on my Fluval Edge 6g are 2 Corlife 50/50 bulbs. They are working fine but I had to make a diy type fixture and it doesn't look all that pleasing. I was looking on ebay for a new LED light and came accros this one http://www.ebay.ca/itm/161321118676?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649&autorefresh=true I just wanted to know if this light is strong enough to grow some LPS Coral Thanks Link to comment
farkwar
JACCCL. Junk. You mention, DIY. Whats your budget? If you are willing to spend serious money on it, you can make a very nice light that will fit in there, cleanly. Are you serious, thats the question. Link to comment
ChesterRxs
Oh okay thanks for the response. I For my 6 gallon Edge I would say that my max would be in the $200 range. I've actually decided to get a fixture from the people at BuildMyLED. This one to be exact: http://www.buildmyled.com/14000k-reef-spectrum/ I've read pretty good stuff about these guys, what do you think though? Is this a good buy? Thanks Link to comment
farkwar
It wont fit in your little light box on top. If you're not going to use that, any nano fixture will do. Im not impressed by the BML lights. They run them super cool at 350mA. And they have a very high cost to LED ratio. They are like 15 LEDs per foot/$125 or something. Super cool is fine if they doubled the LEDs in the tube. They will last longer than most other fixtures with higher currents, that cool, tho. Link to comment
farkwar
DIY, You could put one of Daves pucks in there. Heatsink from CNCReef made just for the Edge. Without a controller, youll need two power supplies. RapidLED has small Meanwells(AC-DC) that will work. And it will all fit up in the stock light box. And be under your budget, I think. And I would definitely would put a fan in there. Link to comment
