Is this guy pissed or just pooping? (not a good picture, long brown reddish strands coming out of mouths)?Only had him two n a half weeks, he seems bleached from when I got him... But he did eat recently (early last week). All my other corals (frogspawn, zoas, ricordeas, monti) are open and happy.

SG- 1.026

Temp- 76°-80°

PH- 8.2

Calcium- 420

Alk- 9DKH

Nitrate/nitrite- 0

Phosphate - 0

Thanks

sounds like a poop to me. Make sure hes in low light while bleached and feed him pretty heavily IMO

What do you consider a heavy feeding, and cant feeding them too much be detrimental? Do they normally bleach while pooping?

No they shouldn't ever bleach, if he came that way just take care of him and he aught to bounce back. If he's getting more bleached then I'd guess he's in too much light, but that's a pretty un educated guess. Feeding too much can dirty a tank, but I've never seen any bad results from what most folks would consider excessive feeding

No, 4 18w t5 over ten gallon standard. About to upgrade to a nanobox duo. It was beautiful and healthy when I got it, are you thinking its bleaching because of too much light or too little? The tank is mature and I do regular water changes but with such a small tank I wonder if the chemistry swings are too much for it?

It's just pooping but partially bleached as said before. What kind of lights you have leds?

My clowns host it too unfortunately, that might be stressing it out as well... Any suggestions?

Yeah it's very likely bleaching from too much light. As previously recommended, put it in much lower light and keep up with the feeding. It should bounce back to it's former glory :)

Wow, I'm shocked my t5's are too much for it... Gonna have to do a little rescape this weekend so it can have some room on the outside off the tank (especially since I just ordered the duo lol).

So really, what would a good feeding pattern be? Like every day, every few days, once a week? i was under the imoression if you over feed lps the food rots in them before they can digest and they fer sick and can even die?

Moved him out of the light as much as possible and lowered the flow.

I heard that idea the other day, I think its complete BS. Ive "overfed" a trachy before, and it just spit it up the next day after digesting about half of it (large piece of shrimp). I think feeding every other day, but only what it will eat in a few min is a good way to go

I hope it bounces back. I love trachy's. My lfs has a massive one for 40 bucks. When I say massive I mean massive. It's like five inches acros and three or four in height.
