Question for building stand

I'm building a stand for my 36g bowfront and I want to build it like I saw on another forum. My only problem is that my woodworking skills are limited(I've built all my stands so far, just standard rectangle shape though). With the design used, horizontal support(for the frame) is added by multiple angled boards. How do you attach the angled boards to the main frame? Do you just use glue, can you simply put a screw straight through the angle? Do you have to put a screw in at an angle? Circled is what I am talking about.

Instead of the angled boards, could you just use 2 horizontal boards at the top/bottom for each section?

I would glue and screw them, but be sure to pre drill if going into pine 1 bys. There very likely to split on you.

How do you put a screw in the angle? Just straight through like:

Install the screws horizontally, glue, clamp and predrill as the poster above stated.

I wouldn't worry much about the horizontal supports, the plywood skin will provide the lateral support if it is fastened to the frame well. Even if you don't completely enclose the back, at least run some stringers or horizontal pieces top and bottom maybe a foot high and full width to stop any side to side movement.

 

Any hardware store will have a drill set that both countersinks the screw head and predrills the holes at the same time such as these.

I predrill and countersink all screws, use plenty of exterior grade wood glue and clamp everything to keep it plumb and level and so it does not rack or twist out of alignment.

Circular saws are horrible choices for curves...
