Haven't notice a problem. I was initially concerned as when I put it in the tank I had to really hold on to him, but once I got it to grab on to the rockwork, it hasn't seemed to have any trouble keeping itself attached. Mine is about 2" or so, not sure how small yours was.

Yours looks good - mine was waaaay smaller!

So Alex shared a very cool picture with me yesterday. One of my frags that he has been holding on to for me for some time now is what we thought was a green granulosa that I had bought from Steven(ReefKid). Well, it has been throwing out some new coloration that is quite interesting. Yellow highlights have started on the tips and the polyps have started turning red :oB)

Hot damn,I'm about to let that man hold all my damn sps lol. It looks better than LRO's frags do lol. He's doing something extremely right lol.

Tell me about it....imagine what another 250+gallons of water is going to do once he gets the 300 going.... :haha:

Just got done taking and editing a bunch of pictures. Had a nice photoshoot with pumps off after a nice feeding. Im absolutely loving being able to take great photos and edit the raw images with lightroom, all from my phone. The best part is the mobile app for lightroom its free!

Here was one of my favorite shots from tonight...I'll post more tomorrow, including a new FTS.21231994013_bc38952b78_b.jpgLrMobile3009-2015-11229090499083662 by cchsoracle, on Flickr

The purple zoas here were the ones that had fallen down into a cave in the rock structure a while back. I had thought I lost them for sure, but I found them one day and they have made a pretty good comeback. You can also see some encrusting from an acro that was on this rock. The acro had mostly died when the algae took over and from the peroxide so I pulled it out, but the encrusting tissue that was left has hung in there and is starting to spread again! Might be time for a tester frag from Alex...hint hint!

This pic was before I moved some stuff around, but I just wanted to post it cause it shows all 4 of my fish together. They hang out in a group like this quite a bit. I find it strange that they do this, but its pretty cool non the less.

In the past couple days, my acans, which were starting to recover and look better, have turned to crap. Last night, one of the polyps on one of the frags just completely let go. The only thing I can think of that has changed and would make sense is I cleaned my skimmer and it has been working better than it has in quite a while. I guess it's possible that it removed all nitrates too quickly, but I would think that I would notice other things in the tank reacting as well(Wellso, goni, zoas, etc.) Anyone have any other ideas?

I've been having the same issue with my Acan's as well. Sps and zoa's are doing fine while a few Acan's are either completely melting away or super sunken in,while a few are fluffy and happy as hell. Maybe a pest is bothering them,we just can't find it ?

I dipped all my Acan's a few months ago and never found anything. Once with Coral RX and a week later with peroxide, still nothing. Huh ?

In my 12 gallon, acans color change from rainbow to poop. In my 5 gallon, they puff up fat and happy. Same water, same maintenance. I even tested moving acans from 5g tank to 12g, saw bad change, move back, and back to normal. Why can't they just talk and say something...

I don't think that that would have caused polyp bailout. I've seen acans thrive in super filtered SPS tanks.

Well it definitely wasn't too low of nutrients causing the upset acans. I tested the water over the weekend and found out I have both phosphates and nitrates in the tank. I tried moving the 2 acans that were still somewhat alive down to my kitchen tank to see how they do there. Much less flow in that tank and a big overhang, so I can put them in low light, low flow and see if they recover.

Speaking of the 8 gallon kitchen thank, I lost the clown that was in there over the weekend.... :( He must have jumped as my wife found the dog with it in the under the dining table. It was a little heart breaking as it was a clown that I saved from a friends tank. When I got it, it's growth had been stunted and it was not in the best shape. I was able to nurse it back to health. It had amazing coloration and doubled in size in the time that I had him. We called him Lucky, guess his luck ran out.... :furious:

Figured I would at least take a quick pic of the 8 gallon. I have been moving some stuff down from the 34 here and there. I guess its time I actually start mounting some of it.

So here were the test results from the 34:

Cal 460

Alk 9.6

Nitrate appx 4

Phosphate 0.11

Mag 1400

Sal 1.026

Threw in a passive bag of rowaphos that I am hoping will bring down the phosphate, but not completely to 0. This is the first time that I have actually been able to test phosphate at something other than 0.00.

And here are a couple cell phone pics. Edited so that the color is spot on, but still grainy from being cell phone pics.

The tank is just chuggin along.....bryopsis is mostly gone, still some stragglers here and there, but nothing horrible. Unfortunately, though, I now have an explosion of bubble algae everywhere. Thinking about adding a couple emeralds, but cringe at the idea as my coral is all looking healthy again, for the most part, and would hate to have emeralds start eating at my coral. I lost all my acans, they all just bailed polyps, and it happened to all of them within 1 - 2 weeks, really weird. I have been questionable about the health of my acans for some time now, they have never seemed right for some reason. Not sure if they had some kind of infection or what. Everything else, other than all the bubble algae, looks great though. I think I am just going to ride it out and let my coral all grow as much as possible until I can find some time and money to start over with a bigger set up some time next year. I may decide to just sell off everything and take a break for a month or 2, though, if I cant get the bubble algae under control.

Heres some pics.....and a teaser at what I have planned if I ever do find time/money.....it is very similar to some pictures that I have shared before, but with a deep blue 57G edge instead of the CAD 34.

Finally getting some growth on zoas. This 2 polyp frag has popped out 3 babies in the past couple weeks.

  • 2 weeks later...

Woah! I missed a TON! Things are looking really good! I'm so happy to see this!!! :happydance:

Yeah, well except for what you can't really see in these pictures. I had a horrible algae outbreak that I still am not sure whether it was bryopsis or turf algae, or a combo or both. I got that somewhat controlled with H2O2 dosing, but have since stopped because I wanted my coral to have a chance to heal. Now most of my coral is looking great again, but the bryopsis is starting to look like it is coming back and now I have a pretty bad bubble algae infestation....smh. I really just want to start over with some really nice LR from Tampa Bay Saltwater, but no time/don't want to spend the money(and I also really just want to start completely over) At least my coral is all looking really good, for now...

I remember the byropsis/turf algae issues :( Yuck. But i'm so glad you didn't decide to break down the tank!!!! I really like your scape. and that wellso (I think that's what it is) has gotten HUGE!!!!!

It has been REALLY happy lately! It's one of the only reasons I havn't just broken the tank down yet....that and I love my fish too much.

i want rics as big as urs! mine deflated alot since my tank move...sigh

I'm not sure what makes mine so big, but they definitely are the biggest rics I have ever seen. I'm sure yours will bounce back in no time!

So I added 4 emerald crabs yesterday to see if they will attack some of this bubble algae. Last night, I decided to take a peek with a flashlight to see if I could find them and see what they were up to. Well, found 1 of them dead....really not sure why. I could only find 2 or the other 3 and they seemed to be munching down on something that they were picking off the rock. I have not definitely seen them pick bubble algae off the rock yet, but fingers still crossed.
