warr40
Hey just wondering if anyone has experience with this array looks pretty decent on paper. http://www.rapidled.com/borealis-luxeon-z-array-37-led/ Channel 1 (1000mA max) - 5 Neutral White Channel 2 (1000mA max) - 6 Royal Blue + 5 Blue Channel 3 (700mA max) - 12 Lime Channel 4 (700mA max) - 5 Violet UV + 4 Deep Red (660nm) Link to comment
Mr. Microscope
Interesting. Looks like it needs a lot more RB though. I'd also cut out one or two of the deep reds, and replace one or two of the neutral whites with warm whites. A cyan or two wouldn't hurt either. I could also do without the UV or go with somthing more along the lines of 420-430nm. Link to comment
evilc66
No need for cyan, seeing as Luxeon blues are a little on the green side, and with the limes, it covers basically everything north of 470nm. My gripe is that there's far too many limes, and the combination of deep red and violet (they aren't UV) was a huge mistake. It basically nullifies the UV, as you would never turn the deep reds up all that much. Link to comment

I use 3 limes in my array that covers a 40 breeder and that is enough to make the 14 NW (2011 XP-G) and 3 Warm White (2014 Luxeon ES 2700K) array look noticeably brighter and more crisp. If I had to do it again, I'd go up to 6 or 8 limes overall, but 12 in one multichip is just excessive. Link to comment
Reefkid88
Where they were going with this chip,it had good intentions.. But it's like they were drunk when they put this board together.. Like Evil said, wrong spectrum violets,WAY TOO MANY limes, and why add red when you have warm whites ? Doesn't the warm/neutrals cover that spectrum ? Like their Aurora Puck, they used Cool Whites and used exotic colors to make up for it.. Which kills the light. I think. I have one single red in my array of 10 leds and it fu*king kills the light. It's a VERY overbearing color. Even with my whites on 45-50% and my blues on 100% on my Storm, I can still see a mass presence of the red led even from a foot away from the water line Link to comment
Horerczy
Before we go saying there's way too many limes remember the Luxeon z limes are pretty weak compared to the rebel es limes. About half strength. The other leds are much closer to their rebel ES counterparts. that said 8 limes would have been a better number. I used to have all the bin information on the borealis. The first generation had the top bins for every color and the white were the highest flux 70cri 4000k whites. My big gripe is that having the reds on the violet channel takes your ability to turn the violets up to 1A. The whites could have been replaced with some 80cri whites instead or even just swap two of the neutrals for 2300k whites. Link to comment
