OCNcheffy
Hi there, I've been doing freshwater planted tanks for a little while now, and I'm very interested in adventuring out into the saltwater world.. I've been doing tonnes of research these past few weeks and I'm thinking of building a reef tank that will sit on my computer desk. The equipment that I know I'll need first for the Fluval Spec V is as follows: -Finnex 16-Inch FugeRay Marine Plus Aquarium LED Light -Hydor Koralia Nano 240 Aquarium Circulation Pump -Chemi-Pure Elite -Purigen -Refractometer -Marineland Mini Jet pump (To Replace Stock Pump) -5.6 Gallons RO/DI water purchased -Live Rock -Live Sand -Salt (Instant Ocean) -Thermostat Heater 50W I understand I'll have to keep up with weekly water changes to maintain proper parameters in a small tank, so that wont be an issue. I have a Finnex Fugeray planted that works great! So I figured I'd give the marine version a try as well. Unless someone can recommend a bar or clip on light that's better and not insanely expensive <$100. There anything else I'm missing to get started? Link to comment
ashtricks
Welcome to the forum! The Spec V seems to be the go to tank for pico reefs I guess we will have simultaneous builds Link to comment
mrkotabear
Nano aquariums are fun! Honestly IMO when doing water changes not everything has to match. Salinty is usually a must, but most fish should be fine with the small temperature change. and also a par38/hanging fixture I think would work perfect for this tank. You could grow just about any coral if you had that. That's what I've been recomended. Link to comment
OCNcheffy
I was thinking of purchasing this light:http://lightboxleds.com/products-page/halo-par-38/You can purchase the halo and clamp combo for 119.99! Seems like a good deal to me. What do you guys think? Link to comment
ninjamyst
try using Instant Ocean Reef Crystals instead of regular Instant Ocean for the added minerals that will be good for corals. Link to comment
