I thinking of using a water bottle to catch my dottyback but I am wondering after I remove the label on the bottle there is some glue still left on the bottle so is this gonna harmful any of my fish and corals?

If it's sticky adhesive, you can usually rub it off with some vegetable oil. Dawn dishwashing soap can get rid of the oil residue (just make sure you rinse all the soap off well).

I've found that putting a piece of PVC pipe in the tank can also work. The fish swims in and you cover the ends (the fish will likely try and hide in the tube so it isn't that hard to accomplish).

If you are worried, use some wax and grease remover and then give it a thorough rinse. I used a plastic bottle to remove a snowflake eel. I didn't worry about the adhesive because he was such a voracious eater, the bottle was only in the water around 30 seconds.

I cut the top off the bottle, inverted it and stuck it back in place. Made it easy for him to get into the bottle and hard to get back out. Worked a real treat.

I would imagine the glue to be the lesser of all evils. A hot hair drier also works to remove the blue, but it'll be fine to leave it on.

Believe it or not, I used several different methods to catch a Lionfish that just was too damn smart.

3 weeks later after trying everything, I threw in some saran wrap... He was just swimming about taunting me with his "haha, you cant catch me" attitude. He got stuck and I just stuck my hand in, grabbed him and put him into a container to sell.

Best ever.
