Help! Leaking Calcium Reactor

This is my MRC calcium reactor which is leaking. The leak is where the pvc joins the acrylic tube at the bottom. I am not sure the best way to fix this. The fitting is threaded but looks to be glued to the acrylic inside the reactor (Probably by the previous owner). What is the best way to fix this problem? I am currently thinking about using Weld-on #16 or #40. I will pick it up tomorrow if you guys think this is the best approach.

How bad is the leak?

 

A few factors caused the calrex to leak, pressure on the feed pump and effluent rates differentials that causes the pressures to raise inside the chamber.

 

There are a lot of pressures built up inside the chamber alone. Silicone is not recommended. You can try to seal it with Weldon 16, let it sit for a day and try it again.

The leak was a slow drip is all. I am feeding the reactor with a manifold off my return pump and have been keeping the ball valve on the manifold very low.

IMHO. Feeding cal-rex from manifold causing unstable pressures that creates swing in your pH. Your return pump pressure maybe fluctuates by the water volumes, also on/off when you do water change. If you can find a different pump for feeding the cal-rex, try parasitic pump. Constant and stable pressure will stop the swing in your pH.

I was worried about this but my apex has been able to keep the tank ph very stable. I had it up and running for about 6 months and all was fine, the effluent goes through a second chamber of ARM before reaching the tank which has helped lots too!! The reactor instructions say to feed it with a maxi jet which I do not have room for in my sump currently haha
