andersonkc
Can anyone ID this coral? I got it free quite a bit back. Thinking a Favia, but I cannot find anything like it on the web. Trying to make sure I have proper placement/flow/lighting. Anyone have something similar? Link to comment
Lawnman
That is not a favia. It's a pale miami hurricane chalice. Keep it in low to medium flow and same with light. If you have good light it will color up to this. Link to comment
andersonkc
Should I leave it on the sand or put it on a piece of rock? Link to comment
Lawnman
Should I leave it on the sand or put it on a piece of rock?No leave it on the sand bed for now. You can move it to the rocks eventually but let it adjust to your lights. It's pale because it came from bad or weak lights and I assume you have stronger lights. If you have leds keep it shaded and slowly move it to more light each week. Link to comment
andersonkc
I was using a stronger LED recently and the coral started to turn white, so I moved it under the rock/shaded area. I recently removed that light and using a weaker one for now as I am getting better polyp extension with it. This was my post when it was a bad color (obviously not a Favia)... It appears to be doing much better than before. http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/344689-whats-up-with-my-favia/ Link to comment

Looks like a chalice in this post but a favia in your old thread. That is a chalice for sure nice job bringing it back. If you are getting that much color to come back don't touch it. Link to comment
