hey evveryone. couldnt find the solution on the googles, so here i am. lol

I have a few containers i use for wc. Two with RO water, and one bucket with SW. question is, im taking out some live rock or skeletons out of my tank. Can i place them in the SW water changing bucket? i know they dont really need light, but i figured instead of killing them off entirely, maybe they can ... in a sense almost further more prep my w/c water? also. would it be bad if lets say, the container is almost empty, so then i top it off with RO water again then add salt? or maybe i can pull out the LR while i do my mix again.

makes sense?

If you placed live rock into your saltwater bucket and didn't provide an ammonia source there would be die off. You'd pretty much be doing water changes with dirty water. And if you expose the live rock to RODI water before adding the salt, I'd expect there would be even more die off before you were able to stabilize the salinity of the water. It would probably be best to buy another bucket, fill It with salt water and periodically drop a dead shrimp into it to keep your rock live.

ah maybe i can do that. would you say there would be much of a benefit or no?

I'd do it if I planed on starting up another tank soon and I wanted to speed up the cycle by adding some live rock. Otherwise, I can't think of any benefits!
