While I am still new to the hobby I have no idea what this is. It is on its own rock so if it is bad I can remove it easily. Funky looking for sure. Thanks for the help. Sorry for the crappy phone pic.

I have no freakin clue.. but I'm going to take a random guess and say either a sponge or algae of some sort..

hopefully someone will chime in that has seen this before, I'm kinda curious..

So should I let it ride? It looks super cool under my little Rapid LED PAR 38. The tank is a rimless 8 gal. It has not caused harm I don't want it to become a problem though. Thanks everyone!

It's red bubble algae. Just a better looking kind.

Definitely red bubble algae. I have that exact same kind. It's very neon on the orange spots, and the actual bubbles can get huge.

So...whats the consensus? Should I pitch it or et it ride?

Pitch it.

Man, I NEVER get pest algae like the folks on here report. Never anything that anyone in their right mind would EVER consider wanting. Not once.

Looks somewhat like botryocladia skottsbergii but with better coloration/just about to spore. Personally, I think it looks neat.
