uwdanno
My bud helped me out with some house maintenance last weekend. Being the good guy he is, he wont let me pay him cash for his time. He has two RSM mixed reef tanks. One 30 gal and one 65 gal. Both are probably 10-20% stocked. Plenty of room. Since he wont take cash, I want to pay him in frags My question is.... If you had $200-$300 to spend on coral what would you get?? Im debating whether to go with these two multi colony rocks below from http://www.pacificeastaquaculture.com/ Or spend the money on 1-2 rare zoas from http://www.legendary-corals.com Thoughts!!?? thesmallerthebetter
if it was me id want the higher end pieces for the same value. but depending on the person the colony rocks might have more value to the individual. its a hard call to make. although if it was me...it would have to be sticks ;p Link to comment

(basically infinity) Link to comment
JavaJacketOC
I like the variation on the multi colony rocks...gives him a lot of color variation to spread between the tanks if he's willing to part out the pieces. It's a nice gesture if he's unwilling to take cash. The CL stuff is nice, but is that what he likes? If he's got a lot of room to fill a 200.. 4 polyp frag might not do it Love that you're trying to give back to your friend! Send me a pm, will hook it up for you. Or this...BOOM Link to comment
tgore
Really would say it depends on the tank setup he has if he is going for sticks or not. If he is going zoas, I would do a bundle pack from legendary corals or planet zoa that way he can just pick out what he wants. I would do any amount of work for that much to blow on zoas lmao Link to comment
johnnyriker
Get him a bundle pack. There usually about $100 each and are a bigger bang for the buck. johnny Link to comment
Tamberav
+1, get a frag pack. More of a fun gift than 1-2 corals and he will be able to place them wherever he wants. Link to comment
Squared
i would spend a good chunk of that on super pretty high-end coral, and the rest on other stuff to fill up the tank. legendary has them jawbreakers now, wish i could afford one Link to comment
uwdanno
Thanks for all the help. Stayed up way too late last night reading your suggestions and shopping around online. what about some critters? fish? Good idea but he is pretty solid on fish. He also is struggling with a coral (not sure which kind) that is munching on his fish. He's put any additions of new fish on hold until he figures out what to do with that terror. Love that you're trying to give back to your friend! Send me a pm, will hook it up for you. You rock! Looking forward to shopping with you guys. Your website is one of the best I've seen. Corals aside, how is he for equipment? Has he been eyeing anything lately? I'm sensing upgrades! Another great idea but he is good on equip too. Has upgraded lights, dosers, power heads and controllers. Pretty sweet setups. I have to look away when I visit or I'll end up on a $1000 shopping spree trying to catch up. I think I am landing on fewer higher end pieces. I've started talking with Darwin at Legendary Corals and they've got a great operation over there. Thinking of going with their high end collector frag pack and maybe a monti or possible jawbreaker mushroom. Its going to be tough to get out of there without treating myself as well. Luckily my Pico is still cycling and I'm not looking to add anything yet. Link to comment

D Z
Maybe just a gift card to a LFS or online coral vendor. I know I am very picky with what coral I buy, especially for a smaller tank that only has so much room.(I'm not really sure what size tank your friend has). While I am sure your friend would be quite happy with you buying him $200-$300 in coral, he would probably be even happier picking our exactly which pieces he would ultimately want for that $200-$300. Maybe Legendary Corals can hook you up with a bad a$$ gift card option..... Link to comment
JBossX
I just looked at jawbreaker mushrooms- DO IT. Those things are pure retina-burning-awesomeness. Welso brains are also nice. Link to comment

HM3105
Have you checked Coral Gardens Aquaculture (sponsor)? The people on here who bought from him have been pleased and his stuff always looks really nice. He has some nice Zoa and Acan packs for like $100 that get you a nice variety. His webpage is here http://www.coralgardensaquaculture.com/ He does some on Ebay too, you might just PM him with what you're looking for. Link to comment
