Light question

I have an Exotic Eco Pico fixture that has 3strips each strip has 2 whites and 1 blue if I were to replace one of those strips with an all blue ( 3 blue lights) would that still give me enough light over my 2 gallon for my rock flower anemone and zoas and paly's?

So right now you have 3 strips (each with a white, blue, and another white LED); and every LED is 1W. So instead of a total of 6 white and 3 blue, you'd have 5 blue and 4 white (still a total of 9W). I would guess that should be fine. I'd replace the center strip so that the white is spread evenly throughout the tank. I'd just make sure to feed the anemone a piece of Mysis or even flake food a couple of times a week. However, there would be no problem skipping a week for vacations or such (I wouldn't have a tank sitter target feed my tank).

Hi seabass, yes that is right, do you think it would be to blue and not enough light for the zoas and paly's?

I am just finding them with no color now, they look just a brown color all healthy but no color.

I also have a dial so I can dim these lights I have, maybe that might be better??

Oh yes I don't have our son target feed the Anemone when we go away, we just returned from and Alaskan Cruise for 7 days and all was fine he does a great job and has for many years when we go away. But the anemone was just fine when I got home, he gets fed again tomorrow.

That's a nice trip. Did you see many whales up there? Any Orcas? Our captain would always announce if there were Humpbacks near the ship. Everyone would hurry to that side of the boat; it's a wonder that the ship didn't lean that way.

Yes I know what you mean about everyone rushing to the one side. Last year when we did this same cruise we seen a pod of orcas about 15 of them several times down the passage, seen lots of dolphins chasing the ship too but this time just seen a few whales not many no orcas and only 3 dolphins. Last year we went end of August beginning of Sept so don't know if that made the difference going earlier but its a nice relaxing cruise with great scenery, we are very spoiled here as we see this scenery everyday where I live but its still nice to see it from the ship, we spend a lot of time on our verandah watching stuff as we cruise along.

I am using the ecopico with the setup you are proposing, 2x 10,000k/453nm strips and 1 all 453nm strip, and have great results - as my pico thread should show - it is more than enough light. With only 3 strips, if your tank is 8" deep there is no need to use a dimmer.
