Snapper
Is it usually because of phosphates ? The water clarity has been good but the last 48 hours it looks a bit muggy in there. I have been having GHA issues that are brown of late, and my sand bed is turning brown and right below my overflow box the sand bed is red at about 8 inches in length which is new as well. Not sure what is causing the phosphates as my nitrate tested well and I feed maybe once every 2 days sometimes 3 days. I only have 3 fishes in a 45 gallon tank with a 20L sump. I think my GFO amount should be doubled if this is an issue but can't figure out what is leaching this issue. I have a mesh net covering the inlet of the PVC pipe and there is a lot of algae blooming on that net so somehow I got something feeding this. I do know I had a lot of pellets get sucked into the overflow about 1 month ago so not sure if this is the result of it. Link to comment
seabass
Phosphate might be fueling one or more blooms that could be contributing to the cloudy water. Did you start with dry rock, or live rock? Can you post a picture? Is sounds like your tank might be experiencing a Cyano bloom. Link to comment
Snapper
I used dry rock, tank is almost 2 years old now. The cloudy water came from no where. "slightly" clearer today. when my GFO ran out i used brightwell extrax white pellets and honestly thats when this starting happening probably because I constantly noticed some film algae issues. Been using this for about 2 months now and going to go back to GFO. Been on a small dose of GFO for 3 weeks but need to restock asap. Link to comment
Snapper
got my GFO in and in 24 hours the DT looks 90% clear. Pretty crazy how fast this thing worked. Link to comment
