Visionist
I was given this coral by my lfs(good friends with one of the guys there) as it was in rough shape. It's doing well now and I was told it is a finger leather. From seeing some pictures it looks like a kenya tree kind of, I'm worried since I am getting a toadstool frag tomorrow and I would like to place it nearby. If this is a kenya tree I fear it may harm the toadstool which I care much more about. I've seen some other pictures online which do look quite like this but it is hard to tell. This is the best pictures I can get of it right now(not fully open) as it's night time. Link to comment
slowngreen
Sure looks like a kenya to me. A bit lighter than all of mine other than that looks exactly the same. Link to comment
Visionist
This picture taken with no light is a fair bit clearer Link to comment
PicoMatt
it is definitely a Kenya tree coral. Probably was not receiving enough light and got lighter in color. I've seen Kenya trees in a dark almost purple brown. A tan color which is the most common and s lighter whitish color. Link to comment
Visionist
Will the kenya tree mess with my toadstool? Link to comment
PiscesFish
Leathers shouldn't have a sting if that's what you're worried about. They just have a nasty mucus type layering that they get rid of once in awhile and can irritate other corals. Just make sure that you have good flow on them so that when they do get rid of the mucus, it can get blown off them. Also, I have a Toadstool and Cabbage coral touching and they're both leathers and they're doing just fine. I've also had the toadstool and my kenya (or maybe colt. . . but possitive it's kenya) touch when I reaquascape and they would do fine. Link to comment
