ZeoVit Nano package in 5 gallon?

I have a 5 gallon Fluval Spec V with a NanoBox Mini Tide, you can check out my tank thread here.

In short, I am trying acros and other SPS in my tiny space. Beyond biological and basic media filtration, I don't have the space or desire to do skimmer, reactors, ATOs, etc. Based on my preliminary reading of the ZeoVit system, it sounds like the process is to achieve ultra-low nutrient THEN go with the additives. For my situation (five gallon, no skimmer/reactors) I'm hoping to achieve low nutrients through frequent water changes and algae/xenia. Past that, I'm looking a starting with their nano pack to get my acros and poccis colored up nice with good polyp extension.

Thoughts? Is anyone else trying this in a simliarly small tank or without the full system? Are there any other additives from this line that are indespensible?

I want to chime in but I dont want to give you bad advise. Imo if you want sps, you need a skimmer.i have a few sps in a 4 gal tank and do larger water changes weekly, I don't think they care for the large wc's (90%) so much. They are healthy but growing slow and have pe but not like on my other tanks with the same pieces. I am not running zeovit products on this tank.

You can run the nano pack with out the full zeovit system but do so sparingly as these are strong.

You could also run coral snow to dose along with the nano pack. Refrigerate the coral vitalizer after opening.

I run the nano pack on my bc29 along with cs and aahc. My tank is a mixed reef and all corals seem to be doing well and have nice color and pe. Growth seems to have increased a lil faster than before as well.

My dosing schedule is:

5g wc every Sunday

3gal wc bi weekly on Wednesdays as well as the norm on Sunday.

After wc I dose 1ml cs and 1 drop sp

that same night at lights out or before I go to bed, I add 1 drop cv.

the nxt day (mon) I dose 1 drop aahc at lights out.

Nxt day (tues) I dose 5 drops phols regular

Skip the nxt day (wed)

Next day (thurs) I dose 1ml cs and 1 drop sp

Fri at lights out 1 drop cv

Skip Saturday and the wc on Sunday then repeat.

I test for nitrates and phosphates as well as ph, alk, ca, mag every other week or so or more if I notice a change in a certain coral. I want to pick up a potassium kit but always forget. I feel I should be testing this as well as maybe strontium because I use rscps and heard the levels can vary over time.

I'm sure the resident Zeovit experts will chime in here shortly with far better advice. What I dose in my tank seems to be showing some positive signs of keeping the corals alive and well colored w/ awesome pe, not to mention what seems to be better water quality, but I am not running the full set up with zeo lights and reactor etc. I'm sure I would have far better results using the full set up and maintaining a stable ulns. I want to run a full set up but with the 3 tanks I have being aio tanks, I would have to do some major modifications and add a sump for all the equip and imo just is not worth it. On a future tank I plan to try out the full zeo set up.

Not sure if this helped you, just wanted to share my zeo schedule, chime in and let you know it is possible to run zeo products without the full set up and see positive results, maybe not a ulns but definitely signs of better water quality and coral health.

NanoTopia has a guide for this in her Zeovit thread near the last page or two she has a guide for this specific product. I use it in my 7 gallon, and after a few days the results in my Zoa's is crazy.

Really all the nano package is is food,to be honest. If you have softies and lps this stuff is amazing.

I believe you can use all Zeo products in nano's just be careful with how much you dose. Water changes help a lot but you can always get better results,IMO. I'm sure people like I'm nuts, but I think it could work. You won't really know until people try and use the trial and error method to get real results as to what will and won't work in our nano systems.

Re: sps and water changes.

Mine love them. I always get a little boost of growth after them. My acros are perfectly fine even with the big ones when they're out of water a few minutes.

To Op, you need zeolites and a skimmer for it to be Zeo.

Just get a little TLF 150 shake it every day to demulm.

Purchased the Nano Pack and dosed according to instructions over the last week. Anecdotally, I feel polyp extension on at least my red dragon has improved. Things weren't in a good state for some of the other acros and no major turn arounds yet. This hobby needs more miracle pills.

Thanks, that's a helpful thread. And I can't believe I hadn't seen her 7.5 gallon build thread. Insane.
