picoshrimp
I just added corals today and after doing some searching on here, how long does it usually take for corals to open up? I got at the LFS GSP zoo eagle eye and a paly the paly and a few of the heads on the eagle eye seem to be doing well, but im worried about the GSP Link to comment
Jackal_Knight
just give it a day or so should be fine. Link to comment
Tropi
GSP, do you mean green star polyp? When I got my star polyps they didn't open until the next day but I have read that it's not uncommon for them to take longer to open even up to a week, mine stay open now and only close when lights are out, but they aren't the green ones though. furam28
my gsp took a week to open up. how are your water parameters? is your tank fully cycled? btw. GSPs are the best starter coral to get. it was my very first coral. they grow like crazy and look quite nice. Link to comment
cuber14
GSPs are almost bomb proof....some can kill them most wish they could. Just make sure you isolate the rock or keep it trimmed unless you want a GSP turf tank. Link to comment
picoshrimp
Water parameters are Ammonia 0 ppm Nitrite 0 ppm Nitrates less than 50ppm pH 8-8.2 I have cycled the tank for about 28 days I started off with 1 hermit crab, 2 bumble snails, and 3 cerith snails. They were in there for about a week before I introduced the corals. Great news the GSP is doing great, the eagle eye zoo only has 2 polyps that are still green, hopefully they make it back. Then the 2 mean green palys look great! Link to comment
