quick question... how do you guys do a deep cleaning on your skimmers?

I only do deep cleaning every now and again, every week or so I just spatula the inside of the neck to remove layers of gunk to keep up with the efficiency.

For deep cleaning, I clean under hot water with a tooth brush to remove algae and etc, then soak in water/vinegar bath. 24 hours, remove, rinse, soak in RO 12 hours, then let dry...

We got great results with this skimmer. Before we

, it's what we used in our 38 gallon Nuvo in the office.

Next we are setting up a 70-gallon Artisan II from CAD Lights in our break room. We'll document the build on YouTube like we did the SR-80. Hope you'll follow along! :D

An Eshopps PSK-75 on our nano.

Here's an article we wrote about that a while back you may find useful: http://kb.marinedepot.com/article.aspx?id=11041

I should have mentioned, the i-TECH has a drain that goes into a separate container, and I'm also skimming a little on the wet side so it doesn't look like it's pulling as much vs someone skimming dry.

The nastyness that is my Reef Octopus BH-90. Note the pods in the skimmate. I have no idea how they keep getting up there. They're dead BTW.

I run my skimmer really low so a lot of gunk actually accumulates in the cone before the neck.

The lid is sadly about the cleanest part.

The light penetration is surprisingly quite poor. Which is wierd because this skimmate is actually quite wet.

Bwaaaah that's the skimmer I wish I could have, how do u guys like it.

We love the CO-1! It's really quiet. One of our local customers, Nik, actually sent us that image.

Not the dirtiest I've ever had, but I'd say that's about average.. plus it was the only pic I have uploaded :P

The skimmer is a Bubble Magus Curve 5 that I got from Marine Depot back in like September or October during my tank build..

Thank you for choosing MD! You know, compared to some of the other skimmate photos reefers have shared with us, this is actually not THAT gross. Still gross, but not downright nasty. The skimmer looks like it's working wonderfully!
