bpounds1991
Hey guys, I picked one of these up on Saturday and he immediately went to a rock (as you would expect) then a couple hours later started digging his burrow under the rock, which now has two entrances. He was poking his head out all that day then closed up around 6:00 at night and has yet to even peer his head out since, just keeping it closed to where I can only see him looking in at a 45 degree angle. Where he placed his burrow is about 4 inches from the glass, do you guys think he's timid because of his own reflection? Or still just getting adjusted? Also, he's the first fish I've introduced to the tank so I couldn't see any other livestock being an issue. Link to comment
4x5
Give it time. I didn't see my Royal Gramma for a month. Link to comment

bpounds1991
I keep seeing sand coming out, I'm expecting to wake up to some sort of lavish home lol Link to comment
desertrat
Make sure you have a tight lid on your tank, jawfish are jumpers. On another note they are more active at night. Link to comment
Havok_9
Im having the same issues with my new jawfish, on day 5 with him. Found that food is a good resource to get him to come around. I spot fed him with a turkey baster today and he did seem a little more curious about me after. Like, hey you, food lady, give me more. But mines exactly like yours, wedged in the rockwork at the back of the tank near the glass. Link to comment
bpounds1991
He's still completely hidden in his rock...I only see the occasional sand spitting out of the hole but he hasn't ventured out and he's deathly afraid of the EVIL turkey baster lol Link to comment
Mike Savage
One of my favorites. He will eventually move to where he can have a good view of the tank so he can see trouble coming and dart back in to his hole. I have not had one for a while but when I did they would hide in their hole at night and cover the opening with a big piece of rock or shell, usually pretty early in the evening. Link to comment
