injen57
so my calcium is 519 and my alk is 120ppm im having a hard time raising my alkalinity without raising my calcium. when i dose my 2 part with my calcium starting at 450 and my alkalinity starting at 140 ppm my calcium seems to keep rising but my alkalinity stays the same. does that mean i have to dose alkalinity more than calcium? because everyone is saying how i should dose the same amount.. and should i change water until my calcium and alk is stable? seabass
No, you do not need to dose them in equal parts. Dose them only to keep them at your target levels (don't elevate either level). Do you know your magnesium level? Proper magnesium levels allow us to achieve the alkalinity and calcium levels found in NSW. If it's too low, one just pushes the other out of suspension. Test it, and adjust if needed. Water changes will help restore the balance. Link to comment
Stakins
What size is your tank? I tried dosing and messed up my tank. Mine is small enough that water changes are all I need. Link to comment
