MarquiseO's 30G NUVO Fusion 30L---Firefish jumped ship AGAIN....

I recently visited the local fish stores in the area and found a NUVO Fusion 30L at 10% off. I have already begun the build process for it. I did not get the stand because I would rather build my own and I am not paying $300 for a stand. Also, just found out I am going to be a father!!!

And now on the build....

Started building the stand but stupid drill needed to charge (walmart drill).

Congrats on both, my new tank is a result of my 2 year old son and Nemo. I went with the same tank only having the LFS build my stand, I wish I had the time to build my own but I have to put a fence in.

Thanks! I found out after I bought the tank so it was great news twice. I probably wouldn't have bought it if she told me beforehand because I would have been excited and directed my attention on the pregnancy. It's just going to be a table/stand. I am too lazy to build a complete stand with doors and stuff. I can always complete it later.

Here is the "Run-Down" of this build:

Tank: Innovative Marine 30G NUVO Fusion 30L

Stand: DIY Stand

Lights: Kessil A350W (May upgrade later to two A360W or Radion G3 later)

ATO: Hydor Smart level (got to buy it)

Pump: Stock (Upgrade later to Jebao DC pump)

Livestock:

Ricordea

SPS

Acans

Flame Wrasse( had it for a while, Its a pig)

Royal Gamma

Helfrichi Firefish(will get a pair)

That's so far what I have come up with. I will alter this list as I go.

Tank looks sleek! You may want to rethink the royal gramma and flame wrasse with any firefish. They tend to be easily bullied.

Thanks! I have both temporarily in a 16 Nuvo until I am done with this tank or the Nuvo is sold. I will then move them over to the 30g plastic container with my live rock in it. They get along fine. No bullying at all.

Mr. Microscope

Should be a fun tank! I know you mentioned livestock, but *wink wink* there really aren't enough biotopes out there. ;)

Congrats on the new dad thing!

I wasn't doubting the royal gramma and flame wrasse's compatibility, more the firefish with the other fish. In my experience firefish do not handle aggressive situations well. They also, it sounds silly but, become easily stressed from highly active fish. If you feel the two fish you already have are docile enough, have at it.

Thanks! I may do a biotope but I not 100% sold on it.

Oh ok. I see what you mean. Thanks for the heads up, I may choose another fish in its place.

  • 2 weeks later...

awesome looking build. congrats on the tank and the baby news. those are some nice looking zoas.

Thanks!

Update:

*Tank has been a bit cloudy for the last two weeks. Maybe a bacterial bloom but seems like residue from the dry rock which I didn't let soak long enough.

*Tank seems to have gone into a mini cycle after I removed the old media racks for the 30L Custom Caddy Media rack in which I also changed out the filter pads. Tested 0.2 nitrites(Red Sea) so removed frags from tank to temporary cycled tank(7.5G in first post).

*Bought new frags: Yumas, Zoas, and SPS(rainbow monti, strawberry shortcake, and Exquisita sp). I will take pics and upload as soon as the Yumas "relax".

nice addition. strawberry shortcake was one of my favorite sps.

Thanks. It is one of my favorites as well.

I have several other ricordea florida and zoas that haven't open but here are the images of some of the new yumas and the sps:

very nice. now your stepping up to a whole new ball game. those yumas look pretty sick.

Thanks! The idea is to get mostly eye candies. Those make my total yuma count to 7 different morphs.

Wow, looks sweet! They really are as nice as I think they'd be. Can't wait to get one myself. :3

Looks great!

Thanks!
