darkdancer333
I purchased a randall last week and after seeing the videos of pistol and randall yesterday I got a candystriper pistol I have a 14 gal nano tank. Wondering how they will pair up. The pistol barracaded himself inside a rock and made a wall of sand. He is in an alcove with the randall but I am not sure the randall has seen the pistol or know he is there. Do the pistols constantly stay behind a wall of gravel. In the video I saw where the randall was its guard. Perhaps it's too soon but I hope they do pair up. I don't want a pistol that is totally hidden. The pistol is tiny as well as the randall. Randall is about an inch and the pistol is about 1/2 inch Today I blew the gravel away and now the pistol is rebuilding his wall LOL Link to comment

thirdchild
Once they find each other, they'll pair. Neither are really interested in leaving home, so it can take a while to find each other. I added my pistol a few weeks after my Randall, and they live under different rocks for like 2 years. It took a tank move and putting them in the same tupperware for them to pair for me.... I think I was unlucky though. Link to comment

CrazyCarl
It took about a week before my ywg paired with my pistol. I don't know if there is anything you can do to force it, just give it some time. Link to comment

Skuba
Added a tiger with my goby the other day. They paired up seconds after the tiger hit my sandbed. But he's making me nuts now. Constantly making a subway system in my sand burying my corals. And I've been trying to trap him but the goby blocks him from going in. Link to comment
CrazyCarl
I caught mine after about a week of attempting. This last method I tried only took 1 or 2 attempts. I poked a hole in a small plastic cup near the bottom and laid it so the opening of the cup is facing the entrance of his cave for a day before the attempt (my theory was that it makes him comfortable going in and out of it, you may need to scoop some sand in it so he doesn't move it around), put a few pellets in it through the hole during feeding time, then above hold a net between the cave and top of the cup and wait until he goes in, then shut the net like a guillotine. Make sure he is nice and hungry, I didn't feed for a few days before I got him. Hope I explained that ok. Link to comment

Last night I had a net sitting and he got comfortable bringing scoops of sand out rite next to it. I went for the grab and came up with sand and the goby instead lol. They are a cool team I must admit Link to comment
darkdancer333
When I got home Thursday I used my baster to blow sand away to open the rock up. LOL when the pistol started building a wall aagain my goby saw this and swam to him. Now they are in separable Link to comment
