Tail Spot Blenny with Goby?

I know that there are blennies that don't enjoy the company of gobies, like the Midas Blenny. But, was just wondering if a Tail Spot Blenny will be fine with any gobies.

I cant speak from personal experience, but ive seen posts and tanks with both no problem.

I should ask. What size tank and what type of Goby?

It's going to be a Dragon Goby/Bullet Goby/Sleeper Banded Goby. The two fishies are gonna be in a 28g nano cube.

I've been trying to find posts like that, but it doesn't give too much details on their compatibility.

Don't really see a problem with it. For instance I have A Pair of Greenbanded Goby, a Red Head Goby and a Tangaroa Goby all in the same 29g tank. I even had at one time a Clown Goby in there with a Harptail Blenny (Before the Pair of Greenbanded were purchased).

I dont really have a problem with aggression. The Red Head does chase the Greenbanded a bit, but other than that he/she just goes along their own path.

I have had a Yellow watchman Goby for 6 months now. He is normally visible for 3-4 hrs per day. Rest of the time he prefers to stay in his cave.

Got a TSB on Saturday. Even since then, all that YWG does is stare at the cave that TSB is holed in. This was the longest that I have seen him in open.

Keeping fingers crossed that YWG does not stress himself.

I can’t chime in if they’re compatible or not as I’ve never had a tailspot (do have a fang blenny though) but I imagine it’d vary depending on the species of goby your looking at and it’s swimming habits. An example being how a watchman is a burrowing species while the link’s goby I have (same genus as the bullet and banded sleeper gobies you mentioned) spends most of its time out cruising out in open water and sifting the sand. Basically you don’t want fish that compete for the same type of territory unless you have enough space available for them to comfortably have their own territory’s and retreat from each other if needed. By the way would totally recommend the link’s goby if you’re looking for a sand sifter for your tank as they stay much smaller than the other gobies you mentioned and are captive bred by biota. I got mine from LiveAquaria where they’re currently on sale too.

Mines probably my favorite fish but he is a complete jerk. Knock snails and hermits off the rocks constantly, steals food from the corals, and chases the six line everywhere and if the clown stays in front him to long will pop him one too. But he cleans the algae off the rocks and glass so he earns his keep. I had a yellow watchman but the TSB didn't care for him one bit. It all comes down to the individual fish with these guys I think. Some will work, some not so much.

He is becoming my fav too. While YWG has interesting personality, TSB is less afraid than YWG. He likes to cruise around the tank and does not dart into his cave if I walk by the tank.

Has taken up the job of cleaning algae.

Started feeding Hikari's seaweed extreme as supplement diet along with Mysis shrimp. TSB, YWG & clownfish go crazy after Seaweed pellets. Bangai cardinal is not interested at all. It only likes flakes, mysis & raw fish (salmon/tilapia)

My first TSB was full grown when I added a YWG to my 25G cube. It did not go well. My TSB killed one YWG and harassed/stole the burrows of a second bigger YWG that I tried. So I added a Randals Pistol Shrimp and put a stop to the hole stealing. But the TSB never stoped with the threat displays and the longing to steal.

That TSB died RIP Toby Tailspot in a tank crash. So a waited and added a Neon Goby to go with my YWG and Clownfish. Last month I got a new little TSB same size as the Neon about 1 1/2 inch. All get along really well.

My advice add the TSB last and get a little one. I'll admit that my first TSB was very aggressive for his species (attacked everything snails, corals, fish, shrimps and killed an emerald crab and one fish) but the younger ones seem to get along with everyone.
