SbCaes
Hey guys anyone have any suggestions for lunar mode? ( what do i do to get a "moonlight") cycle.? and would it mess up the corals? the blues running at even 1%? lmk guys! would love to be able to simulate the natural mooncycle on this ( using daves Tide/limes ) settings etc. lmk Link to comment
SpencerShepard
All you need to do to set up a moon light cycle is set your night levels(this will be full moon). If you enable Lunar Simulation, the controller will take the moon illumination % from your simulated location, and applies dimming to your night output to reflect that. eg. When your simulated location shows 50% moon illumination, the controller outputs 50% of your night levels. Hopefully someone else can chime in as to what would be appropriate full moon levels for your fixture/tank. Link to comment
SbCaes
hmm ok. so if i were to set blues. = 1% would it take it down below one percent? ( is this possible?) and at what level of blues would it be too much for a night light? ( also are fans supposed to be on 24/7 ?) these are daves units. Link to comment

If you set your night level to 1.0%, then lunar simulation will output between 0-1.0% based on the moon phase. The controller has 4096 dimming steps (resolution), so yes, there are about 40 steps of dimming below 1%. Whether or not your drivers will respond to smaller values (ie 0.1%) I'm not sure. SbCaes
any way to get dave to chime in here? Link to comment
risk1994
I'm using my 2 cree blue 3W LED's (700LDD) for my moonlight with a .8 maximum at full moon. They go dark at anything less than a full moon. Im thinking I need to get a lower power LDD driver to allow it to go below .5 and still be visible? Any ideas? BTW. Have an up/down button in addition to the slider! Trying to slide down to .5% is extremely difficult. Link to comment
Cali9dub
Is there any way to generate a mandatory dark period, say an hour before sunrise and an hour after sunset, before/after the lunar cycle lighting initiates? Link to comment
Cali9dub
Also I'm running 4 12.5" stunner strips via a PMW module and 3 kessil A360's. I keep the 360's off at night and 2 of the ecoxotic stunner strips, but the other 2 I have for moonlight just stay on. I would like a dark period before and after the moonlight... Link to comment
Cali9dub
Guess I'm the only one running some stunners. Link to comment
Cali9dub
I guess there is no way to set a mandatory dark period based on the lack of response from Spencer. Link to comment
SpencerShepard
There's no option for that in the settings. Someone in another thread suggested putting the light on a timer to be off for your mandatory dark period, which would work fine. Link to comment
Cali9dub
Unless you use a moving sunrise/sunset to a set location. Link to comment
