chrisinator
Just added an Odyssea 75S Protein Skimmer, let's see how well this will work, only down side was there were no real instructions so having a basic knowledge on skimmers helps! Link to comment

snailflipper
Very cool setup For some reason I keep looking looking at your fuge in awe. Probably because that baffle makes it look like an infinity pool ! Link to comment
chrisinator
Looking good so far! The fuge looks really clean Do you know what light you plan on upgrading to? Since the 20L is fairly short, I may end up just upgrading to a Quad T5HO or similar, not trying to shell out a ton of cash Very cool setup For some reason I keep looking looking at your fuge in awe. Probably because that baffle makes it look like an infinity pool ! Thank you! I realized how messy my silicone job was but will probably clean it up in a few weeks after I've had it run through Link to comment

jrme1212
Can you take a few more pictures of the sump? I'm looking to do a ten gallon, and that looks exactly like what I want to try to do. Link to comment
chrisinator
Looks like a pretty sweet build! Thank you! Appreciate it! Can you take a few more pictures of the sump? I'm looking to do a ten gallon, and that looks exactly like what I want to try to do. Thanks, what's nice about this sump is that it's 3 pieces of glass so gives more room for stuff. I would have gone with the 15G but it wouldn't fit the width. Here's some pictures... don't mind the damselfish, he manage to go down the overflow so I gotta build a contraption for that later on tonight and the crappy filter sock that was from a seachem "the bag" http://s602.photobucket.com/user/WhatTheFunky/media/2014-06-21222152.jpg.html'> Don't mind the water line... it keeps changing on me so trying to fix it up http://s602.photobucket.com/user/WhatTheFunky/media/2014-06-21222157.jpg.html'> Added a Odyssea Protein Skimmer as well http://s602.photobucket.com/user/WhatTheFunky/media/2014-06-21222203.jpg.html'> http://s602.photobucket.com/user/WhatTheFunky/media/2014-06-21222210.jpg.html'> Need to add some chaeto http://s602.photobucket.com/user/WhatTheFunky/media/2014-06-21222215.jpg.html'> New Torch Coral http://s602.photobucket.com/user/WhatTheFunky/media/2014-06-21222355.jpg.html'> New Long Tentacle Plate Coral http://s602.photobucket.com/user/WhatTheFunky/media/2014-06-21222400.jpg.html'> Starry Blenny! http://s602.photobucket.com/user/WhatTheFunky/media/2014-06-21222424.jpg.html'> Link to comment
pmang6
Nice!! I'm gonna have to read up on those "long tentacle plate corals" never heard of them before, seems like a really nice coral! Link to comment

chrisinator
Diatoms are completely taking over but seem to be slowly going away now with water changes! Added another Clownfish but the other one died from parasite and it was too late at that point when I realized. Current stocklist include: 1 Clownfish, 1 Starry Blenny, 1 Yellowtail Damsel and 1 Neon Goby. Thinking about adding either a Bangaii Cardinal/Six Line Wrasse and 1 more Clownfish and maybe moving a couple of the fish around to my other setups. Link to comment
chrisinator
Odyssea PS 75 Protein Skimmer Review: I've had this skimmer for a month and have fined tuned it so that it works out really well. I have set it to be a wet/dry skim so it's in between. I get a green/brownish tinge skimmate and have to remove the cup for cleaning once a week (maybe twice after heaving feeding). I went into purchasing it knowing that it may not be the best quality as I got it for around $45. Initially setup was fairly easy and I have it setup as an HOB off the side of my 10 gallon refugium. I had issues regarding the placement of the airline tubing and the venturi system. Left it there to break in for about 2 weeks and started fiddling with it. The main issue of the HOB is that the pump will work harder because of the increased height of the skimmer body out of the water. For the airline venturi, I was able to re-use an old air pump and put on a adjusment valve and set it to the middle setting. Pump was able to break down into microbubbles and have no been producing skimmate really well for 3-4 weeks. Pros: Cheap Versatile (HOB or In-Sump) Works well with some tweaking Easy setup (but no instructions) Cons: No instructions Some leaking on the tubes (fixed with plumbing tape) In the end it really depends if you want super quality skimmer but I wasn't planning on spending a ton of money on equipment as long as it works and found that this was fairly practical. If you do purchase this, try to buy it from eBay to allow some protection Link to comment

Thanks! The diatoms in the photo aren't but but it was a full blow outbreak a week ago and hoping to limit a lot of the things causing it. I don't mind lenghtening the diatom cycle since I've read that encrusted diatoms may end up taking over some of the corals. Turbo snails are getting to work as well! I think I had some issues with my salinity and probably why the Turbos were kinda closed up. I gotta say that the 10 gallon is pretty good for a sump! If I could do it again I would get a 15G but the space on the stand limited me (width wise). Contemplating on upgrading to a 29G in the future for more fish. As for the Neon Goby, he is really peaceful and he's eating well but seems to have sporadic outbreaks regarding ich. I'm gonna QT him today for a little bit in a smaller tank to see what's up. Im guessing he's more apt to get the ich virus due to him trying to clean the other bigger fish. Furthermore, you might think this is aggression but it's merely the Goby trying to clean the fish! Good luck with your setup! Link to comment
chrisinator
I decided I wasn't gonna get any fish for a couple months but ended up finding a Snowflake Clownfish but was marked as a regular Ocellaris at Petco for $15... Talk about perfect timing! The catch, my oldest Clown passed away from parasites so I ordered some prazipro to treat the tank this weekend. Pics coming soon! Link to comment
chrisinator
Change the light to the 30" Finnex Ray II Day/Actinic. Not totally sure exactly how I feel about it and how my corals feel about it. Corals are closed up/reeled in as I just switched the lights Moving back to college tomorrow so I wanted to post updated pics to compare when I return in a couple weeks. http://s602.photobucket.com/user/WhatTheFunky/media/IMG_1610.jpg.html'> http://s602.photobucket.com/user/WhatTheFunky/media/IMG_1609.jpg.html'> http://s602.photobucket.com/user/WhatTheFunky/media/IMG_1607.jpg.html'> http://s602.photobucket.com/user/WhatTheFunky/media/IMG_1606.jpg.html'> http://s602.photobucket.com/user/WhatTheFunky/media/IMG_1607.jpg.html'> http://s602.photobucket.com/user/WhatTheFunky/media/IMG_1608.jpg.html'> Link to comment
