Have had this Fluval Spec V for about 6 months (upgraded all the livestock to a 20G Long Reef), moved everything over and restarted this tank (with some live rock from previously, of course) and will be bringing it to college in the Fall.

Stats:

Tank: Fluval Spec V

Heater: 50W Heater

Pump: Stock (upgrading to Mini Jet 606)

Lighting: Stock (upgrading to WavePoint)

Substrate: Aragonite Sand with Live Rock

Chambers: Filter Pad and Rock Rubble

Fish: None [Add Clown Goby or Yasha/Pistol Pair]

Corals: None [Add: Frags from larger reef]

Inverts: 3 Blue Leg Hermits [Add: Shrimps & Tuxedo Urchin]

*Have been extremely focused on my 20G reef that I haven't really put any stock in here except for the hermits.

Still looking around, debating using a WavePoint but maybe I'll end up getting a Par38W and making a stand for it

Added this guy a few days ago, still a little skittish but doing well and he's beautiful

I'm not too familiar with the wavepoints but I know a lot of spec V owners use par bulbs and they seem to work well.

I'm thinking about getting a purple firefish for my tank too! Either that or a sixline I haven't decided yet.

I think the Six Line will be a better choice as it seems to be more active, will likely add one to my 20G so I'll let you know probably in two weeks how they do.

Will look into changing the light in about two weeks as well then start adding corals and what not

A lot more of the rocks are being covered by the Coraline Algae. This tank is fairing better than my larger 20 long reef which is in a deep diatom bloom.

Added a Clown Goby and the Purple Fire Fish and will probably keep it to that for a while and just stock up on Corals.

Lots of room for corals with that scape. Well done.

How's that clown goby doing? Have you gotten it to eat?

Yes! I'm just waiting for the paycheck to come in to load it up with corals.

As for the Clown Goby, he is eating, but due to him being a percher, I sometimes spot feed him just so I know he's getting fed. But the firefish isn't too much of a competition to not allow the Goby to eat.

Does anyone have any experience with the Wavepoint LEDs that can be found on Amazon? Thinking about just getting the 6" or 12" version to light up my reef (bonus that I already have a gift card so it's cheaper).

Don't do the wavepointe. Its a cheap light with blah color. I had one on my spec v and didn't like it at all. When I set mine up again it'll be either diy, a 12" buildmyled, or a nanobox.
