bubba-san
Hey Nano-reef, Was thinking of bringing in a pair of porcelain crabs into my 12 gallon. Do these guys need to be QT'd? I am currently ridding my tank of ich, leaving it fishless for a couple of months, and have my clown pair in the QT with copper (3 more weeks... the time CRAWLS by...). Can these guys harbor ich? Thanks! -Bubba Link to comment
BulkRate
Encysted tomonts COULD be attached to their exoskeleton but porcelain crabs cannot host the parasite itself or act as a reservoir species. If you're really concerned, just acclimate & add them to the display tank then extend your fallow period by 7-9 days. Link to comment
bubba-san
Thanks for the advice, BulkRate. I was worried they would be a reservoir species, so I will just extend fallow time like you said. Much appreciated! -Bubba Link to comment
el_ote
Also, inverts and copper do not mix! itll kill the crabs. Link to comment
bubba-san
Thans el_ote, definitely noted. I had read that somewhere, and so was changing the clowns from a copper QT to a hypo, but like Bulkrate said, I will just add them directly to the DT and extend the fallow tank time another week (so agonizing...) I love this forum - everyone is always so helpful! -Bubba Link to comment
