QT Porcelain Crabs

Hey Nano-reef,

Was thinking of bringing in a pair of porcelain crabs into my 12 gallon. Do these guys need to be QT'd? I am currently ridding my tank of ich, leaving it fishless for a couple of months, and have my clown pair in the QT with copper (3 more weeks... the time CRAWLS by...). Can these guys harbor ich?

Thanks!

Encysted tomonts COULD be attached to their exoskeleton but porcelain crabs cannot host the parasite itself or act as a reservoir species.

If you're really concerned, just acclimate & add them to the display tank then extend your fallow period by 7-9 days.

Thanks for the advice, BulkRate. I was worried they would be a reservoir species, so I will just extend fallow time like you said.

Much appreciated!

Thans el_ote, definitely noted. I had read that somewhere, and so was changing the clowns from a copper QT to a hypo, but like Bulkrate said, I will just add them directly to the DT and extend the fallow tank time another week (so agonizing...)

I love this forum - everyone is always so helpful!
