Baby Peppermint Shrimp - Help Please!

Has anyone every raised peppermint shrimp? I heard a splash and saw the shrimp at the top of the tank, then the fish started going crazy so I turned the lights on and sure enough she had had babies! I took about 30 of them out with a pipette and would like to try and raise them if possible... I have a ten gallon or two gallon available and was going to just put some rock and an air stone in there. What else would I need and what would something that small need to eat?

Thanks for all of your help!

I assume it would eat something small like phytofeast or oysterfeast but maybe someone that has had this situation could help better.

That's what I was thinking and was hoping someone could verify. Thanks for the comment!

Try live baby brine shrimp. I even heard of them eating crushed frozen mysis. I think the important thing it to get it to float in the water column. I don't think they need as tiny of food as fish. Ova and cyclop-eeze would probably be worth a shot too.

They change forms often so they will be really neat to watch grow.

live phyto...you need live phyto, live rotifers...live food doesn't foul up your water.

a low bubble count works good too, although i found that the hermit crab larvae that i tried to raise recently (lasted a week) could stand the turbulence and nitrates of the cycling tank they were spawned in.

Thanks! Regardless of what the outcome is, this has already been pretty cool. She has had babies several other times because I've seen her with the eggs, but the is the first time I've been able to get some of the larvae.

Good to know! I will make it to the lfs this morning and then from there see what I can get set up. I appreciate your input!

hope it works, we wanna see pics if it does!

I'll see what I can do, it's really nothing fancy at the moment and they're super super tiny...

So the set up is nothing fancy, a 2 gallon tank with live rock and an airstone. I bought some rotifeast today and then plan on doing very careful water changes everyday with water from the main tank. I know success hasn't been too great with these guys, but it's a neat little project :)
