ATtekrub
What are the differences? Use both? Which one is better? Quote Link to comment
Horerczy
I havent tried comparing the two to see if one is truly better than the other through any empiracle means but the blue certainly hasn't hurt anything in any of my tanks that I want to keep alive and that's always a good thing. StevieT
stevie whats up so i just started my tanks cycle when should i add chemipure It really doesn't matter but what I tell most is to wait on any media until your cycle is finished. Just run filter floss 1 Quote Link to comment
ATtekrub
I just noticed today on the package, thanks Stevie for the chemi blue! Quote Link to comment
paulrw
i've used them both. i run blue now just because it's new. i think, but can't verify. elite is carbon with gfo and blue seems to be carbon and some thing that looks like purigen. 1 Quote Link to comment
Roll_Tide
So with blue it's the same as running elite and purigen? If that the case what would the new empty chamber hold now that I free one up? As I do not want to run cheato or any kind of macroalgae Quote Link to comment
NanoDiver
Purigen is reusable correct? I run chemi pure elite and purigen, but since I already have purigen and it can be reused I think I should stick with elite? Quote Link to comment
BoxKing
Run the Blue if you are up for a change. My tank has never looked better since the new addition; also I run a small bag of Matrix carbon, Purigen, floss, and a skimmer. Purigen will most likely be removed once I feel like it met the end of its shelf life. Quote Link to comment
reefernanoman
So I guess it's better now to get CP blue instead of CP elite and purigen separately? Quote Link to comment
chumpy
So I guess it's better now to get CP blue instead of CP elite and purigen separately? This is the set up I am running now, CP Elite and Purigen seperate. I might try the Blue by its self 1 Quote Link to comment

LongDoggy
Is the time to swap media bag shorter with CP Blue vs the Elite + Purigen route? With elite/Purigen I swap about every 3-4 months to new bags of each. With Blue, I'd imagine there is less Purigen like stuff and will need to be replaced sooner? Thoughts on this? I'm reluctant to change since the Elite/Purigen route works for me already. Is there a benefit? If media swap is sooner rather than later I'd be more inclined to stay with current setup. Markburns43
I l buy bulk purigen and phosguard and and run them in two separate bags, one depletes faster i swap out while in all in one bag could potentially exhuast one before the other, ive used chemi blue and i cant honestly say though it has happened to me, just theory and price point 1 Quote Link to comment
pgrVII
Just throw your CPB in a reactor, call it a day 1 Quote Link to comment
Sunstar
I am just going to dig up this thread. Why would I buy Elite over Blue or Vice Versa? I do have limited space - so from size wise, blue seems more manageable for my nano. I was considering using floss - if I can find some source of it, and carbon as well. I am getting the custom media basket for my fusion 10 shortly. Quote Link to comment

ReeferBrian
I just put chemipure elite in my 10 gallon nano reef tank, man it's never been this clear before! I wanted to run the blue but my lfs was out of it so I went ahead with the elite,so far so good, but if there are other noobs on here like me,make sure you rinse the bag until the water running through it is clear! I thought mine was rinsed enough until my water turned cloudy,it cleared up in a cpl hours but I could have saved myself some worry by taking this step. Quote Link to comment
FloridaReefguy
Ive run both and could not tell a noticeable difference. Not to say the Blue may not be a hair better, but I went back to the original. Quote Link to comment
