Hey so I've been considering setting up a purple spot mantis tank, but wondering can it be done in a fluval spec V? I know it's recommended for a 10,but just curious to get the mantis experts takes on this. Thanks for any input.

Most definitely it won't be for a little bit as I'm not sold on doing it in a 5 gallon...yet...I have a spare 10 but like the look of the fluval, plus I like to keep to spare 10 gallon available for in case of situations.

Id go ahead and do the 5 gallon. Smithii is a very interactive Gonodactylid and needs lots of things to explore and will like to watch you so I would keep it in the part of the house you are in the most.

Ill prob have it upstairs on our breakfast bar so you can sit on the stools to watch it. We wanted a peacock but didn't wanna have to get a 30 gallon to maintain so opted for a kind of smaller likeness in the purple spot. The spot is good to view it plus there is a sink on the other side for easy water changes whooooooooaaaaaaaaa!

No species only,.with some snails and hermit crabs for clean up and live food. Simple mods,in Tank media rack, chemical pure mini, floss on top, hydor 240,and either black sand or Australian gold. Maybe a few frags off some of the bigger coral colonies in my other tank. No fish though all mantis.

Following along, as I have a 5.5 gallon that I want to set up for a smithii. Can you tell me where you have seen them online?
